Boykin and Claypool are one really big pair of big wideouts. If we get decent QB play this year, I see Claypool possibly having a monster season.

thanks for the input i updated with your corrections
appreciate the confidence, they were my changes based on everything i've read/heard. I could be wrong. I have not seen an official depth chart.

Austin is probably the "next man in" at both outside WR positions, and Young will split time between the outside WR positions and the slot.

McKinley is probably the "next next man in" at both WR positions, after Austin.

I doubt anyone beyond Claypool, Boykin, Austin, McKinley, Finke and Young see much time at WR (in competitive games) unless we have an injury.

Also, we run a FCB/BCB system, with Love as the BCB (Vaughn behind him) and Pride as the FCB (Crawford behind him)

Furthermore, I'd have D. Williams and Armstrong equal on the RB depth chart (at worse) and Davis may also be equal with Williams.

I'd also have Kmet and Wright equal on the TE depth chart, both of them an "OR" for the #2 TE behind Mack.

As for the OL, Kraemer is the actual backup at both OT spots, and either of Ruhland or Lugg could be the backup at either OG spot. Ruhland is the backup at Center.

Finally, unless he just moved, Elliott is a FS.

In BKs presser he was asked what are the next WRs to make the rotation, he specifically named Austin and Young, and did not mention Mckinley. He then went to TEs and RBs as pass catchers. I wouldn't expect Javon to get any meaningful snaps.

Possible.

Though I still think he's the "next next man in" at both outside WR positions, ahead of guys like Joe Wilkins and Braden Lenzy. I pointed that out because it's different than the posted depth chart.

I'd expect Claypool and Boykin to get most of the snaps outside, with Austin being the actual "next man in", and then players like Young and Mack seeing some time at outside WR positions in certain formations/sitautions.

I do think that McKinley will get some snaps outside though.

Made some more edits with everybody's input .. the base of this depth chart was a copy and paste job from a google search so thanks for the input/corrections .. getting reliable depth chart info these days from Notre Dame/Brian Kelly is pretty difficult so we all have to make our best guesses and read between the lines a bit.

You mentioned Liam Eichenberg is a backup at both tackle spots, but he's the starting LT ... i'm guessing you meant Kraemer was the back up at both tackle spots?

Just reread my post, and I don't think I said anything about Eichenberg

Either way, yes it's Kraemer (the starting RG) who is the backup at both OT positions.

And while I haven't seen a great depth-chart released in pre-formatted fashion (yet), Kelly has been fairly straightforward in answering questions about the practical depth chart......except at RB.

I think we have a really good understanding of the depth chart, expect for RB and Safety. Both of those positions seem legitimately fluid, as opposed to Kelly stonewalling.

Safety is a real battle between Coleman, Gilman, Elliott, and Griffith.

RB is a real battle between Jones, Armstrong, Davis and possibly/eventually Dexter Williams too.

You are right, i got the names mixed up, mb. Thanks for the input. I think we got a pretty good up to date depth chart to work with now.

Also you can get a good idea of the future stars/foundation of the team next year and beyond based on Freshmen who cracked the 2/3 deep:

Kevin Austin, WR
Matthew Bauer, LB
Shayne Simon, LB
Justin Ademilola, DE
Houston Griffith, DB
Phil Jerkovec, QB

You can add Allen (S), Boykin (CB), Patterson (OT), and Keys (WR) to that.

Not to mention prospects with ELITE potential
Bracy (CB)
Lamb (LB)
Tremble (TE)
Dirksen (OL)
Lenzy (WR)

I think 2017 is one of the best classes ND has signed under Kelly (probably #2 behind 2013)
