His team is giving a pitiful performance against UMass. Does he have other plans? I know some posters on this board worship him.

I've said it before and I'll say it again: he's an average coach at best.

Overall record 67-44. Record in the SEC 32-37. Record vs. ranked teams 2-15.

Need I say more?

Hoopstar, Worship? what makes you think people worship him? Have you ever been to Starkville MS? Not an easy place to sale. Dan Mullen has done wonders coaching QBs, and has won more at MSU than anyone in recent memory (Jackie Sherrill had some good years). When MS St wins 7 games, that's like ND winning 11. Dan Mullen may never win another game as a head coach, but up until now, he has done a great job at MS St.

Without being sarcastic those numbers sound eerily similar to a current coach in south bend...(not including this year. )

Well, you're right and I'm not disputing that.

However, when posters talked about a replacement this Mullen was mentioned as though he was the equivalent of Nick Saban. He's never even played in the SEC Championship and he's been there nine years. Only finished second in their division once.

Oh...well not by me. That's insane. If BK were to have been replaced without even knowing the specific record I would have thought no ****ing way because it would be more of the same.

He’s done very well at one of the tougher FBS jobs in the country, living in a division with Bama, LSU and auburn.

When I looked at 3rd quarter scores yesterday i saw that UMass was beating Miss state so i decided to take a jab at the several posters who are always pushing for Mullen to succeed Kelly. I am not into Mullen or his record. I was mainly focused on their near loss to a perennial doormat.

Lets build a strawman he said... no one has suggested Mullen is on Saban's level

I said "mentioned as though he was the equivalent of Nick Saban". People acted as though he was a top-tier coach and so that would be a comparison to Saban or others like him.

He's not even one of the top ten coaches in CFB IMO.

Just curious who are your top ten. No specific order necessarily but if you were going to pick a coach for your team who are the first 10 you would pick assuming you could get anyone.

Nick Saban
Urban Meyer
Chris Peterson
Chip Kelly
Bob Stoops
Gary Patterson
Jim Harbaugh
Mark Dantonio
James Franklin
Mark Richt

Hope that answers your question. I'm not saying they would be a fit for ND; these IMO are the top 10 coaches. Stoops says he's done, but you never know about those things.

Since you did say anyone, I answered it that way. I wouldn't want some of these guys at ND because of baggage, and I almost threw up in my mouth when I said Harbaugh. That's all your fault LOL.

That is a good list. Given we are talking coaches and not coaches to replace Kelly, I would add the head coach at Kansas St. He has done a stellar job at a very difficult place to win. I'd take out Stoops since he states he has retired.
