It didn’t matter, but that game had to be one of the worst in some time.

It started with a mystery face mask on the second kickoff and ended with a mystery call that erased another pick by BJ.

Toss in a really bad PI and several no calls on holds and a face mask right in front of the ref who called it a hold.

I hope MF is cutting up those tapes.

add in the muffed punt clearly recovered by ND with knees on the ground and the final Cuse TD where receiver came back in bounds

Someone says this, what seems to be every single week. Oh the refs where so bad. Give me a break.

Let’s be honest high def TV and replays aren’t doing the refs any favors as we all get to dissect their mistakes, which they all make. Saturdays were Pretty bad … Syracuse OL could not handle our DLine pass rush and the holding was blatant and missed often with jerseys being grabbed … no one is crying about it though.

Nope. Said from the start it didn’t matter. I just wish they would move from conf refs to NCAA refs. No conference affiliation. No benefit from your conf winning and you going to better bowls. Just NFL type stuff. I don’t see it this bad in the NFL which is a much faster game.

And a clear offsides by Syr in 2nd Q

On SU’s last TD the receiver was OB.

While the angle wasn’t definitive, I didn’t see the offsides on ND’s interception in the EZ

I can‘t recall but I think SU only had 2 or 3 penalties all game.

There 2nd penalty was late in the 4th when they held JT or it’s a TD.

Yeah but this was probably one of the worst games I’ve seen since playing Michigan with Big10 officials in the big house.

Bad officiating is one thing, but this was lopsided.

For example these teams know which crews will let you get away with what.. these refs let you grab more so long as you’re still chopping them up or this crew let’s DBs get real aggressive etc etc

last weekend was a lot of coincidental calls going against the Irish..

I agree. It was really poor—-against notre dame. is there an underlying motive.? Seen it before

If your a conspiracy guy, maybe. I would assume the more games your conference wins the more teams get better bowls the more chance you get to go to a bowl and make some extra $$. But I’m not sure how it works.

Pitt & Tuitt and FSU the same year stand out

I will admit it seems like it's reaching a fever pitch. The ubiquitous complaining from every corner, and every fanbase, that the officiating is hitting some new low of incompetence and ineptitude.

Are the refs actually getting worse, or are the fans just getting more paranoid and hyper-vigilant?

So did Marshall. But you are not supposed to complain about it because its Marshall.

Marshall was one where MF just needs to call them over, remind them this is a payday for all and to start helping. haha....thats what Saban would do.

I think there is enough money now in college football, where they can afford to pay full-time refs and have crews work around the country, not in just one conference.

That said, I didn't think the officiating was any worse than other games I've seen. The facemask on our second kickoff was bad, but the guy's head turned as if it was being yanked, and you don't know what angle the ref had. Same with the missed facemask when a Syracuse lineman was called for holding Kizer (?). Again, from a certain angle it looked like a hold.

I'll give the refs the benefit of the doubt when they call someone offside, but the last Syracuse TD, where the guy was out of bounds, is a puzzler.

and that play was reviewed.

The NFL is bad too.

A couple of weeks ago the Colts were called for a face mask that negated a sack, when the defender clearly grabbed the front of the jersey only. Then a couple of drives later, the Colts RB (Hines) was pulled around 180 and down by his face mask and nothing was called. Throw in a holding call on Q for pancaking a guy, and a PI when the WR was even touched... Yep, the NFL is bad too.

Especially since it was reviewed !
