Takacs, Griffith (who just scheduled another ND visit) Booker and White all trending to the Irish.... big time players. Landing all 4 would be huge!! Imagine if the d line haul could be the twins, Booker and possibly add Franklin mustipher and tyreke smith.... would be best d line class's in a long time.

Before anyone jumps on here and starts trashing the OP as meaningless, I think we can all agree that we would prefer reading about Crystal Ball predictions of targeted recruits trending our way than trending elsewhere. So, this is encouraging at the very least. Didn't know that Griffith had scheduled another ND visit, but perhaps this is the Irish Invasion in June.

Griffith has said recently that he is coming to irish invasion in june and could very well verbal to our irish while at the event or just after. lots of CBs coming in to our irish from a lot of insiders that cover other schools. he and Allen who is tearing it up right now at spring combines every where will be the best safety duo any school brings in for the 2018 class

Griffith is a high 4* DB IMG prospect and his recruitment will be intense to the end.
Incredibly, checking the tOSU board, when a poster put Griffith on their list of probables for their class, it was met with, "is he a take?"; they are really spoiled over there!

osu signs so many elite recruits that it wouldn't hurt them at if they missed out on Griffith. i'm surprised that Michigan isn't really a player for Griffith as it seems to be an irish vs osu battle for his services

ND recruiting is in good shape right now at most positions. That could stay status quo throughout the next 9 months, or it could easily explode or implode, depending on a number of factors that we've discussed dozens of times.

We have good reason to be optimistic right now, but you have to be level headed with regards to your expectations in recruiting because in a matter of a month, a couple loses in season, a coaching change, etc, etc, it can all fall apart.

Didn't t you hear ? Ever since Brian Kelly gave an honest answer to a question about deshone kizer NO ONE wants to come to Notre Dame.
yeah Kelly doesn' lie to or about recruits, current and former players like coach meyer, harbaugh an others. I like having our coaches not being used car salesmen

From what I've seen Griffith will early enroll, and right now, the likely destination is ND

We know how much this upsets you, so try to vent your frustration slowly

^ so now we all know where continuously has surfaced: lmao!

man, you guys have had a bad year! or 7

Big reciever. If he grows an inch he might become a pass catching WR/TE.

That isn't at all accurate. Kevin Austin is 6'2, and about 190lbs. He's a wide receiver, nowhere close to a tight end. He is DaVaris Daniels with an extra half step and a better head on his shoulders.

As a point of reference, Chase Claypool and Miles Boykin are both 2 inches and 35lbs heavier than Austin and both are clearly wide receivers in this offense. Our hybrid guys (Ali'ze and Weishar) are 245-250lbs.

The closest body type to Austin currently on the roster is Javon McKinley. The heaviest Austin will ever play at is 210-215lbs...

He is not being recruited with tight end ever in consideration. Even an inch of height and 30lbs and he'd just be a shorter Boykin in terms of frame.

Very good prospect. I think he can be a better Daniels, who would have been a really good one had he kept his head on straight.

unless those are smurfs in his vids, he looks about 6'3 now. I don't know the level of skill of the opponents, so relative size is hard to guage. Looking at the vid of the regional openning, his his lower body is ahead of his upper body which has room for development. He could easily get to 6'3 220-225. And I said if he grew an inch, he could be a hybrid WR/TE in passing situations.
The reason I thought this is as a pure WR the question is his explosion of the line.

Right/wrong is a wait and see.

No argument with your opinion that he could grow to 6'3. That's entirely possible. I just don't see him adding 35lbs to his frame to be even the size of Claypool or Boykin. That's an enormous amount of weight for a skilled position player with quality speed like Austin Jr has... My guess is that he's 6'2-6'3, 215lbs when all is said and-done. Outside receiver that we'll see inverted into the slot at times (should he commit to ND) like Chip Long tends to do.

he looks to be 6'3 ... to grow another inch would be 6'4
he is shown at ~200 now.
It will come down to, at his size, how fast can he come off the line.

AJ Green in terms of build, not Aliz'e Jones...

Lets say you're right for a second and he's more 6'3, 200lbs than 6'2, 190lbs... You're still missing the obvious point that ND'S split Tight ends (Ali'ze, Weishar, Kmet) are 245-250lb kids... That's the weight they play at. There is no chance Austin grows bigger than Claypool, let alone adding 45-50lbs and becoming a split end, hybrid wide receiver type.

He's a wide receiver. Period. Even if he's 205lbs now and adds 20lbs. That's a ton for a skilled position player to add. At 6'3-6'4, 220lbs, that's still a wide receiver in the modern game. Michael Floyd, AJ Green, Julio Jones, DeAndre Hopkins, Dez Bryant, etc, etc.

we are closer in agreement than you think. But, it comes down to his ability to get off the line with explosion at his probable size of 6'3 and 212-225. If he develops that explosion then he is an every down prospect.
If not, his size does get him in a 'situational down' catagory.
The worst case for any player or prospect is being in the dreaded 'tweener' situation

Is this serious?

He's not a tweener, at all.

He's very athletic and quality for a WR

Seriously, do you need some medication?

You know that you can't just punch random buttons on the key board and hope that they form something with meaning.....right?

Wow, you guys are good! Very good! You can watch a film of a guy (not necessarily a close up either) and can tell whether he is 6'2 or 6'3. That is amazing. Dad gum it! I wish I could do that. Go Irish!
