Saw this conference realignment article and thought I'd share. It argues that TV and apparel money are going to lead to a lot more consolidation with 64 teams left playing in 4 power conferences and the midmajors in a separate FBS subdivision (like FCS). It has some current Group Of 5 schools moving up based on the size of the TV markets they play in, but again 4 16-team power conferences, and that's it, so you can guess what it says you know who joining a conference.

It's always been a given that, in a 64 team super-conference format, we would be joining a conference. No other practical choice.

For the Barristers on board, aren't there some restraint of trade issues in such a construct?

You shared this article here before. It was no more informative then than it is now.

How original. Creating profiles on message boards to drive traffic to another blog with nothing to say.

At this point,4 power conferences with 16 teams each makes no sense . There probably be no chance of intersectional rivalries or games ,ND /USC , etc

From a football perspective, four sixteen team conferences is tantamount to 8 eight team conferences. You will almost never play the teams from the other side unless we eliminate non-conf games altogether. And doing that will regionalize the sport and ultimately be the death of it. For football it's a bad idea. For the other sports it's not that big of a deal. For basketball, you'd add like four conference games over what we have now.
