Bodi, you're right that we have a lot of young talent, and we have some very good talent coming in. I also happen to think Kelly will get the defense playing better, but this will be a combination of better coaching and our young players learning on the fly. There will be growing pains! Wish like hell that BVG was gone, but that apparently is not going to happen during the season. I simply want to see marked improvement each game and I want to be 4-2 with some swagger heading into the Stanford game. We're in the bottom 5-10% in just about every important defensive category, and it sucks to see this every Saturday. It's past time for Kelly to start turning this around, and Duke will be a great place to start. Keep the faith!

A change has to be made at DC. What is going on with BVG is exactly what went on with Gary Darnell during 90 &91. ND was 18-6 in the Darnell years before Lou fired him before the Sugar Bowl with Florida.

BVG record at ND before the Bowl Game with OSU last year was 18-7. IMO because of injuries and perhaps a personal relationship BVG is still the DC. But things are not working.

ND Defensive talent at full strength is above average, throw in injuries and suspension ND is a middle of the pack defensive team. But they are performing as one of the worst defensive teams in the nation.

The inability to Cover 4 verticals out of 3 Deep is inexcusable. And not only did the Corner blow the coverage. James O was out in the flat covering grass. Just awful

BVG has simply been a disaster as DC, and Kelly surely sees this. The real question from Bodi's original post is the extent to which Kelly will influence the defense going forward. If I were the parents of a defensive player I'd be furious pissed. If my child had any notion and possibly playing on Sunday BVG is literally taking $$$ out of these kids pockets.

Ex. Cole Luke will be playing on Sunday. He has the measurables. He'll get drafted.
BVG is making sure he doesn't get drafted too high.

Every single defensive player regresses under BVG.

Coach Kelly is the wrong guy for the job. Yes, he has done some really good things. However, he has reached his peak. The fuel he had in the tank from the 12-1 season has run out. He is not an elite coach. He is not a big game coach. He has won one real big game since at ND. The at Oklahoma win was his shining moment. Even that game is tainted. The Sooners were average at best that season. The ship has sailed on Kelly. Next man in.

Dead... for me, the decision to IGNORE a poster has nothing to do with whether they are anti Kelly for example, but rather how they choose to express this. Zorich for example contributes to the discussion as he pushes for Kelly to be fired, while CGVR on the other hand posts the same stupid pictures using the same personal attacks on Kellys' appearance and demeanor, and his legitimate fact filled arguments are lost as a result. I enjoy Zorich and ignore CGVR.
