Coach Joins Catholic Church

When he was first hired, Freeman said, "Notre Dame will change you if you let it." I took that as basically his announcement that he had some kind of spiritual awakening.

And it sounds like once the word got out that he had converted to Catholicism, he kept it pretty low-key.

So, no, I don't see this as a publicity stunt, but I do see my comment as providing fuel for a certain blowhard to write about 30 more posts between now and this time tomorrow about it.

Good god, this whole story just keeps getting worse and worse.... The MF saga, and I'm really starting to lose sympathy for the guy. He's like a effin' child or something. I don't mean he has boyish enthusiasm or some shit. No, he's like an actual child. No wonder we suck so bad.....
Who the f*ck are you to comment on why or what religion he practices? You are the most flaming lib on the board and you won’t accept that he wanted to become Catholic? And because of the spirituality he discovered?

I am not agreeing nor disagreeing with your sentiment. But it is a case of ‘the more you know’ ; I don’t know what coached practiced previously. It is a curious development.

You're not really asking me this question. You claim to be a ND graduate, and thus no matter how stupid you might actually be, you can't possibly be so stupid that you would actually ask such a question in earnest. Human beings are not capable of being that naive....

ND's brand new coach, already brutally exposed as being in over his head and very possibly/probably won't last long as football coach at ND, the world's most famous Catholic university, and pundits and bloggers are already contemplating the scenarios of when he might ultimately be fired, including possibly with a few months time if things go poorly enough... Then, seemingly out of nowhere, HE ACTUALLY JOINS THE DAMN CATHOLIC CHURCH.... and you're asking me why....

I guess perhaps the way you see it, and naturally this wouldn't be lost on MF either, this might actually increase his job security! Right??? How you could not see this as anything other than a horribly ominous sign with regard to MF's future at ND, would be beyond me...
I got flamed for offering the notion that bringing back pre-game mass was only going to be a distraction for the majority of the football team and got flamed by the old stodgy traditionalists, but damn dude.. You've really dug yourself a hole on this board and with your savior, if you have one... I'm a believer in Jesus as my savior but have distanced from the Catholic church as I've gotten older.

This is quite possibly the dumbest thing I've seen you post and you've posted a lot of dumb shit. I'll nominate it top 3.

I hope you don't consider yourself a follower.. Judging someone's choice in faith? You think it's a publicity stunt to prolong his tenure at ND?

Everything he's said and done has been about his family. He's a family man and is trying to lead a great example for his children and part of that is growing his faith. I'd bet you don't have kids or if you do, you have a sour home life coming off like this.

Wow, just wow...

To be honest, I've had him on ignore for probably over a year. If you're offended, it's an easy fix as it was for me. There's enough hatred and ignorance out there already and I wasn't going to read any more of what he posted. I have very few on ignore but I wasn't going to waste my time any longer since I knew he wasn't going to change.

I love the Catholic faith and MF joining should be a blessing to him and his family.

Well as a Catholic Jew I find your statement to be ridiculous
MF is now 2-2 and is building momentum
I'm afraid you are being shortsighted unless this is just sarcasm
