I've been re-watching games I've DVRd. I've noticed, when defenses jump into the neutral zone, our guys do NOT flinch or fire off. It's pretty damn amazing, no other teams have this discipline that I'm aware of?

In the Temple game, at least 2 Temple D linemen not only jumped into the neutral zone but even appeared to penetrate between splits of linemen. No contact was made, and they got back "on sides" before the ball was snapped. I beleive it was 2nd and 5ish. If a linemen fired off, its a first or 2nd and inches.

This happens so often, it must be taught and drilled. But why? If a D linemen jumps into the neutral zone and causes a OLinemen to jump its a free 5 yards.

Have you observed this? Why would ND not take the free five?
