Dear Notre Dame students and staff,

My life changed for the better the moment I stepped onto the University of Notre Dame’s beautiful campus. The one goal I had set in my mind to achieve was to become a better man, a Notre Dame man. After growing through many trials and triumphs, the thing I’ve learned most from my experience was that if you don’t believe in yourself first, then no one else will. I believed in becoming a better man and succeeding through any circumstance, and I can say that I’ve truly accomplished that. I often refer to the famous quote from the movie “Catch Me If You Can” that was well put by Frank Abagnale:

“Two little mice fell in a bucket of cream. The first mouse quickly gave up and drowned. The second mouse wouldn’t quit. He struggled so hard that eventually he churned that cream into butter and crawled out.”

I’ve put my heart, soul and passion into the University, the football program, the South Bend community and the Irish community worldwide. I have the unbelievable honor to represent this University to the fullest as a student and soon-to-be alumni. Thank you to the amazing students and staff that I’ve met through the years for helping me grow into the person I’ve always wanted to be. I love the Irish and will always be an Irish alum no matter where I go! I look forward to keeping in touch. Let’s change the world!

Go Irish!

LOVE it! Thank YOU Malik. I'm so happy you will be an ND grad. Best of luck wherever you go!

ALWAYS was a MZ guy. Hate to see him go, but will follow him wherever he plays next.

That is awesome. Much like Dayne Christ (sp?).... I really wish it would of worked out better for them football wise.

Very nice. I wish he would stay but i have the feeling he and Kelly do not see eye to eye.
Best of luck Malik.
Wished he would stay? He would do nothing but be a distraction. This was a great letter and am sure he loved ND but he was disinterested on the sidelines all year and a negative play waiting to happen when he did get a chance. Wish him the best but his time at ND was done

Classy to the end. I feel like Dayne, Malik's development as a player was hindered by coach Kelly and in spite of this, they both grew to be better men.

Sure what ever you say.

Sure what ever you say.
Perhaps your reality is different from ours? While i dont presume to know what OrlandoIrish meant. I believe he is looking at the headache that precipitated the season.
Through no fault of Malik. The same situation may arise when/if Kizer comes back. Now you have Wimbush yr. 3 no playing time asking him to come in and beat Kizer! If this were a situation with any other coach i would have faith in a fair competition. Kelly can ill afford to play a jr. with no game reps (UMass) when/if Kizer came back. How could he? Kizer is his best option were he to come back. Now you run the risk of Wimbush leaving. That in turn would lead to Book, Davis, Jurkovec? With 0 exp. I'm hoping Kizer goes call me selfish. Get a fresh start, next best thing to a new coach/new qb. Either way wish them both the best. Hoping thats what Orlando meant too.

What a great guy! I hope and pray he is the next Russell Wilson! But either way he is going to do great things.

Irishinga...didn't see your post when I posted the same letter a few hours later. Sorry I missed this. Yes, a classy letter from a classy guy. Really a shame to bide your time reluctantly, finally given your chance, and you flat out star. Then to lose it all to an injury. I was pulling for Malik to be named the starter, but can't fault Kelly's decision. I do think it is inexplicable that they never came up with a way to get Malik on the field in other capacities. Regardless, he arrived with class and left with same and left us with memories of two unforgettable games. Hope like hell he has a great year on the field.

Christ The Lord has risen indeed. It's always the people that pump sunshine that don't even know anything about ND or any sport.

Dayne Crist.

Who coaches Wisconsin?

Pump the brakes dude. We disagree about the head coach. Doesn't mean you have to attack every post I make..... hell, I even admitted I knew I had it wrong. It's always the keyboard warriors that are so quick to point out any error or mistake.

And like I have admitted, I know what I do no know. And I do not know what it takes to coach a D1 football team, or what it takes to be the AD for one. And I would be willing to bet you don't either..... which makes it ironic that you are on a free message board spouting out what they should do.

This is ND- 4-8.

Nice letter.....

But I wish he'd just switch to safety. He actually would have a Sunday future playing safety.

All those kids dreams delusional or not is NFL. He is way too inaccurate to even be considered. Great arm...semi OK elusiveness...but severely inaccurate. Can't get by with that on Saturday let alone Sunday.
