Kelly continually gets MORE from his offensive players than they project coming out of HS. Look at Procise, Fuller, N Martin, Adams (hell, even Tommy Rees in the day) -- solid recruits but not five-star guys. He is one of the best offensive coaches in the game. Why do you think Sanford came to ND and not OSU? On defense, it just isn't the case -- players go backwards (Russell was better as Frosh than he ever was under BVG), Redfield was a bust, and guys like Morgan don't develop in the same way the offensive players do. That is BVG -- look, last year he had an experienced, solid, (four NFL players) defense that underperformed badly. I called for a change last Jan, now we'll have to wait until this Jan... We need a Sanford on D -- but Kelly doesn't attract those kind of guys because he is not about defense like Saban.
