Bowen Drama Not Over

Remember the Brown’s? or Teryll Pryor and of course Mitch Mustain? This kid has earned his place in the ‘Recruiting Hall of Shame”.

Did he sign with OU? That should end the drama until he announces for the portal next November...

It’s pretty unreal how much all of you allegedly “grown” men obsess over the decisions of 18 year olds who you know nothing more about besides they play football.

There are a LOT better ways for you to spend your time.

Not only that, but bashing these 18 year olds if they decide to go elsewhere. It's comical.

Meanwhile, if someone offered $5 million to stop following Notre Dame sports for 4 years, and cheer against ND, 95% of the board would take $$$$

Again...
What am I missing?

If he despises Chase's messages so much ignoring is free. It's easy too.

See where I come from if I truly don't like someone I don't associate with them. I don't talk, mingle...matter of fact I waste no time from my life thinking about them.
It's really a great thing...to be able to ignore something.

In this case he doesn't have to see Chase, read or interact with Chase about anything.
Right?

Unless he just can't help himself.

Now to your specific point...

I beg to differ.
The ND mission?

That got 86'd long ago.

I know there are a few that want to think this fairy tale holier-than-thou mantra continues...oh it does alright. Just chock-full of hypocrisy

question for the whole board!
does anyone recall a recruit comitted to a school flipping to another school and then flipping to a third school; all in less than 24 hours!

Aaron Lynch?

24 hours? who/teams?
I just remember him being an equally in demand 5-star prospect who seemed to become more undecided the closer we got to signing day. He flipped back and forth between FSU and ND and then ended up at South Florida 1 year later.

much longer period of time involved! 24 hours is the criteria

Dabo actually has a good idea regarding signing day and restricting the transfer portal.
What he basically is saying that they should do away completely with the early signing period and signing day. If a recruit wants to commit, have them sign the LOI the day they decide to commit. This would force recruits hand and also give the schools some leverage where they can consider a recruit uncommitted until the LOI is signed.

Dabo Swinney is just another guy that wants college football to go back to where coaches and programs have all the leverage and power while the players are at the whims of coaches and the ncaa governing body.

That day is over.

Let’s hope! even accidental sanity is better than none!
You are 100 percent correct. The NCAA is a complete joke. They should be embarrassed and ashamed of what has happened to college athletics. I would not be surprised if colleges formed an independent league where corruption is not king

This is the same stuff fans used to exclaim before they started paying players in baseball however many decades ago.

Then you know what happened? We started paying players, which is fair given that they are producing the labor, we allowed them to become free agents, we gave them rights/dignity/respect given how critical of a piece the players are in this whole thing, and everything just became better/more reliable/more organized in the end and now nobody will ever go back to not paying players, or not allowing them to become free agents, etc.

I don't know man....a few would say that's definitely not the ND values and mission 🙄

Seem to be a bit protective of chase, why is that?
Uuhhh..

No.

I AM protective of the interaction of the message board.
Everyone here at the end of the day is a fan.
What's really bizarre is some on here think they only want ND fans that perfectly align with how they themselves choose to be a fan.
Talk about ridiculously immature.....

I don't care what level of fan anyone is. If they're rooting for the beloved it's all good.

We can have pissing contests of the intricacies of the program, depth chart, scheme, etc...

But everyone at the end of it all is simply a fan. Some more fair weather than others..some really fanatical and live and die with wins and losses.
However it goes I'm ok as everyone has the same goal.
Win...

P.s..
I don't think Chase is a win at all cost fan like he's accused of being.
We can all agree the coaching could've been better over the last dozen years....
We can agree the recruiting needed to be better the last dozen years....
If ND wants to play the NIL game( they are begrudgingly but they still are) then why do it half assed.
Seriously that's pretty stupid if they're going to participate in the NIL horseshit but have some self imposed rules with it.

WTF....

If selling the devil one's soul then sell the whole damn thing.

Silly to just dabble in it don't you think?

They arent doing it half assed. They are just doing it the way the rules are set up for it to be. They arent going to break the rules.

A lot of players at ND have gotten NIL deals and some have made a boatload of money, Hamilton Mayer. Adrmiloas Hart have done well along with some others

But they aren't going to buy recruits. It's against the rules and isn't NIL. that's pay for play

Yeah let’s let the inmates run the insane asylum.

Anyone recall if any one of these head cases ever panned out? The most notoriety they receive is in the recruiting process. Selfish, they are locker room destroyers: ‘every man for himself’.

lol, glad to see you are so protective of free speech. Wonder why you didn't lecture chase on same?

I have a very good source that knows the Bowen situation. I just found this out. Said after the hat fake, Freeman got pissed. Bowen’s dad wanted him to go to UO but they didn’t read the fine print about the bag. Once he didn’t get the bag he called Freeman and wanted to sign with ND. Freeman told him to kick rocks. He then chose OU. Damn. Good for Freeman!

Ask yourself, is college football better today than it was 10 years ago ?

Or is it worse and trending even worse ?

The "college" in college football is disappearing at a rapid pace.

With all due respect guys you either don't seem to understand or don't want to understand what's going on. The game is basically the same but the money in college football has gotten outrageous. You can do a little research yourself and figure it out. For example in 1995 the Big Tens annual revenue was 50 million dollars. This year they signed a T.V. deal alone that will pay them 1 billion dollars. This is why players are getting NIL deals is big business especially with the explosion of legalized gambling. What do you think the SEC's T.V. deal looks like?

I think I have a pretty good understanding of college football and what’s going on and the only reason that players are getting paid is the SCOTUS.

Creating more turmoil, if not chaos, in CFB is the NCAA’s foolish elimination of the one year buffer on transferrin.

The current TP incentivizes bidding wars.

Sad but true !
College itself is dying. Doesn’t mean much to get a bachelors degree anymore. People get them online, sitting around doing nothing. Hell, whacko kids in Cali likely still think Covid is a big deal and don’t leave the house without masks.

The players are the product, so don't blame them. They deserve to get something because the money is out of control. If they weren't give the ol ball coach 1 star players and tell him to coach em up and win. Don't be naive and make this discussion something it's not. If this was 50 years ago heck even 30, I would say a free college education at a great school is an excellent payoff. This is not the case.

Now say personally I don't like and move on, which is your choice. They'll eventually have to be some sort of regulation bc schools and coaches can't control themselves but that hasn't come to pass yet.

Agreed.

I also don't get the mentality where people/fans thinks its 'ok' for players to produce in a multi billion dollar enterprise (risk their lives, short & long term health, sacrifice endless hours to master their craft and entertain the fans) yet shouldn't be able to profit/get wealthy from their labor.
