Blue/Gold

the defense may need a little work but think it's mostly because our o-line is that good. defenses may have a hard time getting to our qbs this year when there getting man handled by guys like Stanley and nelson

Sanford has made a difference on execution. Defense is obviously more physical since they are health, present and accounted for....

the QB's are doing well; seems they are listening and improving. In college they play on Sat. and while neither may be a candidate for Sunday; they both look like capable college QB's that have tons of offensive talent around them.

The offense will be very productive.

I really thought folston would separate himself this spring and lead the running game this fall but the way cj has played though i'm thinking that he could stay at rb this fall and be the guy to beat for the starting job

"while neither may be a candidate for Sunday"

I'm sorry I don't agree with this statement. What is your rational for saying it?

Go Irish!

M. VanGorder very impressive -
But the biggest takes
1) it will be impossible not to play both EG and MZ
2) with Procise the offense is loaded all over the roster
3) Coach VanGorder's defense will be much improved

GO IRISH !!!

there are guys who are going to factors, either as depth or early players, that have not even arrived on campus as yet.
Offensively ND is elite.

That's key! I thought things went the way I thought they would. You can't take much away from the Blue/Gold game but it's always fun to watch the really skilled players.
I sure missed being there, although I don't miss the drive home to Indy.

Nick Martin said he can't handle Tillery - kid must be really good

OL got good push most of the day . Bryant is pretty good

Holmes will be factor soon

Secondary play is very good .

ND is a top ten program again for the first time in 20 yrs - Kudos to all the coaches for putting us back on the map .

2012 and first 8 games of last yr might turn out to be previews as to whatthis will look like in the yrs to come

last thought -- after seeing the influx of talent along the OL it may be what gets us over the hump so that we can compete with the highest level teams in the country .

Even with Riddick and Gray two NFL backs we could not gain a yd vs Alabama . That aint scheme that is simply a lack of talent across the OL We had a couple really good OLineman but there were holes

I think those days are behind this program .

You cats are creating a QB controversy when there really isn't one. You know and I know that it's Montgomery Van Gorder
and that is that.

FWIW
a poster on TOS said posted his parents were at the game and were sitting behind Mrs. Sanford; EG is a slight 'lean'.

Yep. Missed the going to the game. Its always a fun, stress free day.

the most discouraging report I read is that some of the younger DT's did not appear to looked like they were not even in a 'conditioning program'.
Kelly is extremely loyal to Longo, maybe to a fault!

The most encouraging report I read is that you are still a
Stoned cold JO

One over weight kid who is 17 yrs old --and thats what you take away from the game -- you are an intolerable douche bag

Your obsessive negativity does not warrant dignified responses -- sorry pal your but you are simply a miserable prick

Truth be told, I was not crazy about the "drunken" play sent in by a fan. How much practice time was spent on that idiotic play and the risk of injury to Stanley and one of our DBs was huge. This has all the finger prints of Jack S because I don't think BK would want to be bothered with that kind of thing. Everyone involved was lucky......this time.

please try taking lessons from echo on how to show your disagreement or displeasure without being insulting.

you are no better than the ones you criticize

i'm reading on this thread and on another one on this site where some posters are saying that our d-line guys looked basically fat and out of shape but I listened to the game on siriusxm radio and never heard eric hanson and the other anouncers say anything about this. did they really look that bad on tv

no. just a typical negative post from the #1 Kelly despiser here.

"while neither may be a candidate for Sunday"

Please explain how, after seeing him play for 2 quarters of college football, you can make the statement that Malik Zaire will not play on sunday and will only be, at best, a good college quarterback. I look forward to your insight.

Go Irish!

Echo -- Kelly is loyal to Longo so he will allow him not to do his job - purse 23 K april 2015

C9

the posting based on persons saying they were 'eyes' on (TOS) mentioned the Fr. ( excepting JT and AT) as looking overweight and lacking apparent conditioning.. None of those guys discussed are expected to be 'key' contributors in '15. But there is work to be done there.

My thoughts are this is the job of Longo. I also consider all the injuries in recent years. That is why I am getting reservations re Longo.

Very solid game highlighting very solid talent. ND is very deep and should contend for a Championship in 2015.

"In college they play on Sat" -- is that right -? how profound !!

"They both look like a capable college QB " -- how generous of you -- earth shattering commentary

Just watched a recording of the game, and don't see any basis for criticizing Longo or the conditioning of the vast majority of the team. The starters looked in great shape, and guys like Jay Hayes have made tremendous strides. Can't worry about the young guys in the three deep who are probably trying to add weight that Longo is charged with turning into strength and power in the next year or so. I was a frequent critic of Longo when Tuitt and Nix played so heavy their last year, but Don't see where the kind of injuries we experienced on defense can be placed at his doorstep.
