bk replacement

All the sniping aside, Kelly is clearly closer to the end of his ND career than the beginning.

For Peterson or Fitzgerald or some others, what they have said in the past isn't all that important as long as they aren't strong anti catholic or anti ND. Those guys start to wind down their careers and see the end coming without any NC's, 5 or 7 good years at ND is a chance to cement themselves into CF history.

Taking over a seasoned and bristling with talent Kelly team might be a heck of a fun job for the right guy.

Yes, I have said that Kelly has earned the right to remain the coach this season. I ve also said that another stinker and he s likely gone. The last 4 coaching searches at Notre Dame did not result in any high profile coaches showing even passing interest in the job other than Urban's flirtation. What would make anyone think that would change if Kelly goes ? Change for the sake of change is just that. Got somebody better ? I m on board. Just be realistic. Nowhere have I ever said that only Kelly could coach ND.
Okay. That's a logical point and I agree with it

No fair using common sense here. You're spoiling his argument.

Looks like I hit a nerve you old geezer. Time is running out. Head out to the Cracker Barrel before it's too late

Don't flatter yourself. There is a reason you have been repeatedly banned here. Look at this thread. See some of the same posters you recognize from the past? It's not that hard for most of us to be civil. You, on the other hand, can't get along with people.

I wish I kept a notebook of all the stupid unforgivable stuff candidates do in games. For now I just remember a big NO to Pat Fitzgerald.

Agreed! I think it was the NW vs. Michigan game in 2014 that he dribbled down his leg, late. PF has had some BK-style mess up's too.

Stay with Kelly until a guy like Fleck has proven himself. That's my opinion.

No one ever said that. The last 4 searches certainly didn't t have any highly accomplished coaches tripping over themselves to get the job. That's the cold hard reality.

So what you are saying is ... is that you didn't use those EXACT words .... LOL! ..... the joke continues

No one knows what the hell you are trying to say. You make no sense. You argue for Kelly remaining as coach because there are no better options. When you are called out on this you do a 180 degree turn and tell me your post went over my head. Then you state above that it is hard to recruit good coaches to ND so we are better off with Kelly. WTF? It is not that difficult an issue.

If you are going to try and converse with this guy you are going to have to get used to nonsense .... and backtracking all the live long day .... ;)

IMO BK has made a very good hire on the defensive side of the ball and even better one with the strength coaching staff. The OC I think has way too many variations think is good on one hand but may not allow this team to be the run team it truly needs to be to win a NC . He might be too all over the place and offensively we may never be diversified enough in the ground game . Adding a TE on the goaline and running the "I" formation looks great but does this coach a true "I" package ? Can't just run plays. BK is also doing very well with recruiting and a top 5 class is in reach. What is better ? BK falling flat on his face or a rebirth under BK as the HC? True fans always want to see ND win every week. This is it for BK he knows it's do or die time for him. I hope they have a great year and I am not a big fan of BK but these changes can be big for the program. On another note , PJ Fleck has a lot of charisma and will not be locked in to Minnesota too long. He is going to be the next Meyer. ND had a shot to get Meyer at Bowling Green and waited too long can't do the same with Fleck IF BK does not get the job done.

I have no idea what will happen with Kelly, but I am really impressed with Purdue's new coach Jeff Brohm. Maybe after a couple of seasons the Irish might look to poach..?

Maybe in general to discuss where ND should look for future HCs. Are we set to look in the ACC family because of our contract there? I would keep an eye on Narduzzi, see if anyone could win @BC.

the only no-go region [for me] is the SEC. The culture and corruption that is accepted in their football programs cannot be filtered into the Notre Dame football standards.

One of my favorite "new" coaches is Paul Chryst of Wisconsin & formally Pitt. He seems like kind of a Madison lifer now though...

Following around? ... more like stumbled across .... after not being around much it is nice to see you are still up to the same ole same ole

You got me though ... being the 1st responder isn't my thing .... but you calling out someone for name calling and/or bad language was just too hilarious .... :)

His body of work has earned him the right to have the opportunity to fix things after a horrible 2016. Obviously the powers that be at Notre Dame agree. Common sense never occurs with you two. Nothing more than haters. Rooting for or against the Irish this season ?

Haters? ..... more like the true fans of ND football who actually know something ....

So BK's body of work at other schools is supposed to give him a pass for 7 years at ND? .... LOL! .... I guess that settles the "who has common sense" debate .... thx for playing ..... :)

59-31 and 3-3 in bowl games with the two important ones being complete blowouts. All this in 7 years and you say he "earned the right". You are delusional.

Kelly's the coach and therefore I can't wait to see what this season brings. Hopefully GOOD TIMES. If NOT then there are two coaches that are available and both have a National Championship....More Kilometers (best known as Les Miles) and Bob Stoops. Both are Midwestern guys.

My bad for assuming you were smart enough to realize I was referring to his body of work at Notre Dame. They won 10 games in 2015 with an injury ravaged team.
