"We were in need of throwing the football"... really? In a hurricane you needed to throw the ball?
Maybe if you ran a misdirection or some kind of counter instead of the same damn stretch run, you wouldn't have to throw the ball in a hurricane...

It almost seems like he knows it's time to go. Man, I'd have a lot of respect if he took a reduced buyout.
ND (TE U) was hurt badly today because Tight End U does not have a comprtent TE to play!
But ND has a 6'5" WR who is big enough to play TE in passing downs (and really are there any other kind?)
This was a game a TE would have been a huge weapon! But, heck, I am not at practice every day so....

as for BK, this job is really tough, and a lot tougher if you are not winning! It is tough for the family and just everyone associated with the program. It shows week after week.
Kelly got the admin to bend but not

Yeah unfortuantely what looked so promising will end miserably next season for the Kelly era. We are ND fans so I guess I'm just an idiot to not expect the worse and thought the program was on the up and up after the NC game appearance.
Truth is Kelly is too stubborn "dumb" for his own good and when he is kicked to the curb soon he only has himself to blame for how quickly he allowed things to fall apart in South Bend.
... We have lost games due to play-calling. Today's gameplan was completely pathetic. Let's throw 41 percent of our offensive plays while playing in a hurricane. Numerous other questionable game plans over the years but today took the cake.
.... He lost a lot of good assistants and replaced them with bad coaches and didn't make changes soon enough.
Defensive assistants:
BVG never should've been retained after a very mediocre defense with all the talent we had on the team last year.
Honestly, Kelly never should've changed what was working and stayed with the 3-4 even after Diaco left. He didn't and that was an enormous mistake.
Gilmore and Lyght were no where the home run hires this defense needed.
Offensive assistants:
I'm the biggest Heistand hater in the world. I can't stomach the sight of the man. His OL's regardless of how many top 100 recruits he brings in are one trick ponies they can pass block and that's absolutely it. They are undisciplined and soft as hell. They play down to the competition over and over again and for years can never show the ability to man up and dominate in the trenches when it is time to run the ball. Today was just another one of many examples.
How is Booker still on this staff? This man is completely useless as a coach. Kelly has allowed this guy to roam the sidelines for years without producing a single decent TE as a receiver or blocker since Troy Nicolas left South Bend. We've had several special teams disasters with him and today was another example of that.
Kelly hired these ass clowns didn't make changes when it was necessary and now he will go down with all these average at best assistants. We went from having one of the better coaching staffs in football to having one of the worst which is exactly how things can spiral downward so quickly.

this can only be salvaged by appointing Sanford as HC. The players recruits and families all trust and respect him! forget whether he can HC! this is about damage control!

My biggest problem is that he didn't adjust the gameplan to the conditions. We should've thrown the ball no more than 10 times all game. We should've tried to grind out a win on the ground, using Luatua as a blocking FB. But Kelly continued to throw the ball, even though it clearly wasn't working.
There is no way we should ever hire a HC without a significant resume if winning. We've seen that movie a few times and it doesn't work. ND needs a proven winner, a coach who stresses discipline and accountability, and a coach who can return to a hard nosed style of physically running the damn football.
Sanford is minimally damage control. The universal respect from recruits players and families will help the transition period. ND cannot let this decend into complete chaotic meltdown! There is no other name on the staff that can be a fill in w/o losing the recruiting class.
ND needs to buy time and re-prioritize and evaluate.

ND is no longer about winning, accountability, responsibility or "play like a champion" for that matter. It's about money, plain and simple. One need only see the ticket prices or the level of money spent on campus on game day to see that. All the talk about "playing like a champion" has become a thing of the past and pure BS
