Notre Dame left no doubt in its finale of a three-game sweep of Boston College.
Four Irish pitchers combined to no-hit the Eagles, and Notre Dame's bats produced 13 runs to cut the game short with the run rule in the seventh inning.
It's the first time Notre Dame (20-18, 5-16 ACC) has been on the winning end of a series sweep in the ACC this season and just the second ACC series win. The Irish have been swept by conference foes five times this season.
Notre Dame scored its 13 runs in three innings against BC (20-19, 7-14). The Irish plated three runs each in the first and second innings and then pushed the lead to 13 with seven runs in the fourth. Notre Dame slugged five home runs in the blowout at Frank Eck Stadium
Second baseman Estevan Moreno hit two-run home runs in both the first and second innings. Third baseman Simon Baumgardt hit a solo shot in the first inning. Shortstop Jack Penney, who registered an RBI in the second inning on a fielder's choice and an RBI in the fourth with a single, hit a solo home run in the fourth inning as well.
Catcher Carson Tinney mashed a grand slam in the fourth innning. Right fielder Tito Flores also plated Moreno with a double in the fourth.
Sophomore Rory Fox retired five batters to start the game for the Irish with two strikeouts and one hit batter. Graduate student Tobey McDonough earned the win (2-2) with 3 1/3 innings of work with two strikeouts and one walk. Senior Sammy Cooper and graduate student Will Jacobsen closed out the game with one inning each of hitless efforts.
Notre Dame is scheduled to host Central Michigan (13-27) on Wednesday (6:30 p.m. EDT ACCNX) before Wake Forest (26-13, 11-10) comes to town for a three-game series starting Friday.
