First, defense isn’t our biggest issue but there’s 30 threads on the offense issues
ND does have some issues on D involving effort, physicality, and scheme
1. Effort- the dline flat out isn’t bringing it at all, they are very soft and have been pushed around 2 games in a row
2. Physicality- our dline has turned finesse and seems to be in some read react mode. Heck foskey on marshals first run of second half got pancaked by a pulling wr. A great DE would have obliterated the wr and tackled rb for 2 yard loss. Instead Marshall got 11 yard gain
3. confusion - on huge 3rd and 11 on Marshall’s 96 yard drive, Henderson just flst
Our left his man and was confused then realized it and was late allowing for simple 2 yard pass for 12 yard gain. Our lbs and dline have no clue what gaps they’re supposed to be in
4. scheme - we are in nickel 95% or more to stop pass game. Marshall had 51 runs yet we stayed in nickel and let them run for 220 yards on us and run for a 96 yard drive yiu almost never see 3 nd lbs on the field at the same time. JD is playing really bad, no is playing ok; and Marist is only good when he blitzes and destroys rb. We almost never out numbered Marshall in the run game, yet that’s what everyone does to us. Heck we were even in nickel when Marshall was down inside our 10. Really moronic. We went to 3 down linemen inside our 10 with no lbs on the line, they gashed us. Every time this year we go to 3 down like last year we get gashed. So stupid
