Are we really concerned about Clemson?????

You can cite all the storied programs you want. I'm talking TODAY. Our line moves people. It's a thing of beauty.
If Kelly doesn't out coach himself it will be tough sledding for Clemson when we just keep opening up gaping holes.

As I side though turn about is fair play. Can we stop you? It will be tough and could be a scoring fest. Make no mistake, we will be able to run the football. Can Kelly resist the urge to take his very own running game...out of the game. Kelly can stop the ND running attack and only Kelly.

You must be smoking some good stuff man. Didn't realize the legalized it in Indiana yet! I know you'll be able to run the ball some and no doubt you have talent. But to act like y'all have the best OL around is just laughable. Can't wait to shut you punks up

You are talking about the Orange Bowl against Ohio State where your DL gave up 193 yards rushing and didn't get a sack? Dominant. Just absolutely dominant.
Did it watch the game you little twerp? Their line was way more bad ass than yours. Can't wait to whip notre gays ass

The only place on the OL where I expect ND to have decided sdvantage is Nelson vs anyone else!
He is the Ultimate Warrior! physical with bad intent! One play vs UMass QN blocked the entire pile DL down field 7 yards!

Stanley will be reliable.

The real concern might be at center where Martin has struggled at times. Problems up the middle could be troublesome!

Independent of how ridiculous you sound in the minute it took you to put the ring pop back in your mouth so you could whip out that gem on your iphone real quick before Mrs. Morris catches you using it during study hall, you are trying to sell me that the DL dominated a game in which it didn't get a sack and gave up almost 200 yards rushing?

Even if that was a dominant performance we are talking about the 2015 DL... no one cares about what the 2013 DL did just like no one cares what the 2002 ND Offense was like.

I live in Charleston and have watched Clemson twice. Based on what I have seen, I'd say we are better on both lines - and that's most important in my opinion. In the recent past, Clemson has had players like CJ Spiller, Sammy Watkins, and Deandre Hopkins who could take it to the house on any play. I don't see a player like that on their team at the moment. Watson is talented but his receivers are good not great. Gallman is good not great. Clemson has played Wofford, App State, and struggled to beat Louisville - they haven't been hit like they are going to get hit Saturday night. I expect Clemson will not be able to handle our run game - their DEs are going to be giving up about 35 lbs each to Stanley and McGlinchey. My prediction for Clemson...pain.
well if your going to bring up our schedule lets take a look at who notre dame has beat so far! a miserable texas team,a gt team who lost to duke! and a u mass team! wow you havnt played a team that has the defense clemson has ! im not downing notre dame by no means we have alot of respect for you guys but you obviously havnt watched enough clemson games to say we dont have play makers! our wide receivers are 4 star and five star guys people nd recruited! we will be the best team youve guys have played so far! your d line is equal to ours but not better! your offensive line is better than ours! but can they contain our defense we will see come sat night ! look foward to it!

This ND OL may ultimately have the distinction of 3 1st round draft picks; all 5 will be drafted; as well as the 1st backup Barr (2nd round at worst!)

Now that does not mean they are at that level as yet.

NO WAY you will dominate our DL, just no way. Even with the possibility of our best DT (Reader) still possibly out this game. Our D is more than legit
Your D is good but hasn't been tested - ND will be up for this game.

I am pretty sure ND will show up. Lighten up Francis. ND will run the ball very effectively each and every week this year.

With tons of respect to Clemson, the last time an ND team was overwhelmed by a stadium atmosphere was before Rockne was coaching.

Excited to play you all. Very impressed by how you have stepped up despite injury. There is a toughness about your team that every football fan can tip their hat to

Yup you got me. Burned me so hard with that hair gel comment. Just a dominant performance by you... dominant

Notre Dame is another rung in the Clemson Ladder...No disrespect, should be a great game...

I enjoyed the media highlight video featuring Taj Boyd, Andre Ellington, Sammie Watkins, Deandre Hopkins, and all those other players who won't be playing Saturday night. Admittedly, I stopped the video after the highlights of you beating South Carolina last year - with the final scene showing the Clemson kids rushing the field after finally beating South Carolina after a 5 year drought.

It will be a good game Saint74. :)

Talk to us about Clemson's offensive and defensive lines please. I know that Clemson has several playmakers on offense and defense but what do you think about their lines? Are they experienced? Would you say that the defensive is better or the linebackers or defensive backfield? I noticed in the Louisville game that Clemson has a very good running back. Would you credit him or the offensive line more for their success on the ground?
. Defensive line is very good. Our Defense is as good as last years. If I had to pick a weakness on defense it would be depth at linebacker.

Offensive line is a glaring weakness. We are young, thin and banged up on the O line. The shotgun snaps have been low and I think it throws the timing off on some plays. Gallman has been a dependable running back, who appears to be gaining confidence. He is a hard runner and has to earn every yard he gets because of the line. We have several backs on the bench that I think may be better running backs but they have other defiencies that keep them behind Gallman. Our kicking game has been shaky. If we lose, it would not surprise me if the loss is due to a kicking game error.

I expect this to be a very hard hitting game with score in the 20's.

Good post and in live with what i'm reading elsewhere. Do you think Clemson's depth issues at LB is why the coverage teams have had issues, ie. playing inexperienced players on ST's?

Yep, that's pretty much exactly why. We had a couple of legacy offers that our fans have been grumbling about, added to another guy who was highly talented and going to be in our two-deep quitting over the offseason. So now we really only have two guys at each middle linebacker spot who can play (and both of the backups are kind of questionable- one, Kendall Joseph, has been gimpy).

Well, we come onto the field after every game, so...

Anyway, a lot of our fans are pretty overconfident about this game, and it's largely because of ND's problems over the last few years. Not sure where OP was coming from, because Clemson has had more success recently than ND has had. I mean, you almost beat FSU on the road? Great, so did Clemson last year (we also don't claim to have actually won that game, despite the fact that it took a number of miraculous Clemson mistakes to keep FSU in that game, and despite the fact that Clemson held them to negative rushing yards in regulation).

I expect this to be a pretty good game. Neither team just outclasses the other team, despite what some ignorant ND or Clemson fans may think.

You are talking about the Orange Bowl against Ohio State where your DL gave up 193 yards rushing and didn't get a sack? Dominant. Just absolutely dominant.

Yeah, you obviously didn't watch that game. Ohio State basically couldn't run the ball with Hyde.

Here's a blurb from ESPN's summary of the game: "Coming into the Orange Bowl, Ohio State ranked third in FBS with 318 rush yards per game. Against Clemson, the Buckeyes gained a total of 193 rush yards, their second lowest output of the season (vs Wisconsin, 192 yards). Ohio State led all FBS schools with 56% of its rushes gaining more than five yards. On Friday, 18 of the Buckeyes' 48 rushes (38%) were for at least 5 yards."

By the way, we also sacked Braxton Miller 5 times and hit him so many times that he never was able to start at QB for Ohio State again.

Now, that wasn't a "dominant" defensive performance because we gave up too many big plays in the passing game and allowed a couple of long runs. But anybody who was watching that game knows that Clemson's DL more than held its own against Ohio State.

I've been to a big night game at Clemson. I live here, so I follow them. If you're not worried about this game, you're an idiot.
We are worried about this game because it's our next game and it's a very good quality opponent. It has nothing to do with Death Valley or the kickoff time.

Who is saying they aren't worried? Most reasonable ND fans and 90% of this board is expressing how ND is going to have to come in and play a great game to go get a W...

It should worry us. That place is going to be CRAZY. And our starting QB has played in 1 game on the road. At Virginia. During the day. There is a reason the home team gets points from Vegas. This is one of the biggest games ever at Death Valley. It will be home field advantage on steroids.

Worried , did you say worried , maybe you clowns think that you don't have anything to worry about but trust me , we are better than you in 18-22 spots on the field. You will never win this game. The good thing is that Sunday everyone gets to make fun of this silly poster on two msge bourds instead of one..

The one thing I do have to say is that after watching the UMASS game they (UMASS) were getting 7-9+ yards easily on pass plays through the middle. They're short, easy passes and I believe if Watson can find Scott, McCloud, Cain, Peake, etc in the middle of the field, we should be alright. This is where we're going to really miss Williams though because he is a master of mid-field balls. Don't think he's ever dropped one in the middle of the field before.

I agree with one poster who said it's a 50/50 game. Death Valley is not an easy place to win, we've lost 4 games there in the past 6 seasons I believe (I will look it up and make sure I'm correct). At the beginning of the game, it will be loud. And if we get the ball first and score on the first drive, it will be louder. Crowd noise has found an enemy though in the hand clapping snap but communing will be a problem early on and probably through the whole game. Virginia is nowhere near Clemson's crowd noise and ND struggled. This should turn out to be a very even game but I still have to give the edge on Clemson with it being at home. 28-17/35-30 Tigers on top.

EDIT: Clemson is 34-4 since 2010 at home (5 seasons).

Yes that was my post... I don't really know how good you guys are this season but honestly I can say the same about our program considering we haven't played any good teams and almost lost to Virginia which may win 6 games this year. GT was supposed to be very good but they fell apart and it wouldn't matter either way because the offense your team plays in completely different.

I have watched Clemson games in the past and know how tough it is to win at that stadium and with basically our freshman QB getting his first road start there, it will be very hard. Anyway this game can go many different ways and that is why I am saying toss up 50/50 but I do give the edge overall to you guys.

Best of luck and let's hope for a great ;)

FYI we go on the field after every game... It is called "Meeting at the Paw". Even after games vs Wofford App State etc. Gives kids a chance to see their "heroes" up close and get autographs etc.
Even after losses people go down there. So we will also be "rushing the field" vs you guys dont think you are special we do it every game.

heck: you diss the ND fans and get your feelings hurt when we talk to you on your plane!
geez.

I don't know a lot about Clemson this season. I will say that it will be the most talented group by a long stretch, that ND has played this year so far. On paper and in stats, this game is pretty close.

What worries me most about ND is that defense. They seem prone to the big play and if there is a team that will exploit this, its Clemson. I believe ND's O and D lines are capable of controlling this game. As with any hostile road game, it will be key for ND to get the crowd out of the game early.

Of course I want ND to win. But man, I can't wait for this game because its what big time college football is all about.
