you know I've been a fan for 45 years. The reality is this. I'm not upset at all. For years I kept hoping it would turn around only to be disappointed. I realize after all this time that it won't turn around. Those who run the university don't care about a winning football program. So why should I? I'm glad for Duke. They deserved that win. At this point ND could and might lose every game. Again, who cares? Time for me to find other things to do on saturdays.

Agree. Only way it changes is to hurt this administration in the pocket book but sadly that will never happen. So they will continue to smile at ya as they lie about being dedicated to having a championship caliber football program.

It's already a nasty season. There is absolutely no game in doubt anymore. I know you go way back. I back also to the beginning of the 70s. This I can say with certainty. This is the worst defensive team I have ever seen play for ND. Ever!! Nothing will change until people say enough is enough. Fans need to stop going and watching and supporting. This is not against the players or coaches for that matter. It's against a school administration that only cares about money. Well if no one goes and people stay home, change the channel, at some point it will make an impact. This isn't just about this year. It's about 20 plus years of mediocrity. If that's what they want , then great. Just stop lying to everyone about wanting to win championships. The whole program is a farse.

Kelly just signed a deal until 2021. He won't make it. However, as painful as it may be, he needs to fire Van Gorder ASAP. The season is now officially over. There is nothing at all to play for. Seniors and some juniors most likely want to get through in tact so they can get a shot at the NFL. Kelly needs to take charge. If anything just to show he is on charge. Again,I know he won't do anything. As I said, those in charge don't care as long as the money is rolling in why do anything? The Notre Dame football I know and loved died when Lou Holtz left. That's when the school heirarchy decided that football is no longer important. Nick Saban would have a tough time wining at ND. You need players to win. ND doesn't get them anymore.
With each passing season I lower my expectations more and more. At this point all I really want is to win 9 or 10 games every season and I'm happy. Maybe win a big bowl game once every 5 years, that would be icing on the cake. I don't even care or expect a playoff appearance.

The problem is now with all the losing, ND won't be able to remain an independent much longer. Although they might still have the arrogance to try to pull it off.
The best thing that could happen is that NBC doesn't renew the TV contract. It would be the perfect slap in the face for this administration that is cashing in on distant glories from yesteryear. I disagree Kelly was a good hire and you have to admit he did take the program to the next level, or two. The problem is he can't take it to the next level and the job demands are only going to make his performance worse.
This Brian Kelly isn't the same coach we hired. The BK we hired was a bold and emotional guy. The guy that went for it against Tulsa, the guy that used to turn purple tearing into his player.. that guy took this program to another level. This Kelly is meek and timid. This Kelly is dismissed by his QB's because they don't respect him.
He raised the level of the program and it's time for him to go because its only down here from now on.
You are not fooling anyone. You care, I care, we all care, otherwise we wouldn't watch ND, read ND, or even be here feigning disinterest. You are just going through one of the stages of a disappointed fan, but, you care.
You have forgotten the Davie, Ty and Weis years? Do you think that we can go from a MAC level program to a respectable program by accident? We are constantly recruiting better, we are winning at least 8 games a season (until this season but thats because they should have let Kelly go after year 5).
When was the last time you have heard "ND isn't relevant". Most years we are at least in the conversation of top 15 teams. IMO, you are letting your dislike of Kelly impair your objective analysis of the program.
