During the winter, when the mood around the fan base was in the dumps, I thought ND would rebound in 2017 with a solid season. Not a world beating season, but a respectable one. At the time, a number of posters were saying 6-6 or 7-5 at best when they heard Kelly would be retained. I was willing to put $1000 American (I get screwed on the exchange) that ND would go 8-4, or better... Unfortunately, there was no takers. It would have made the season extra interesting!

I'm still looking for a taker if anyone is out there? I'm willing to go $500 instead, if that isbl an amount someone is more comfortwble gambling. Eight games left to be played and all the tough teams on the schedule are still out there with the exception of Georgia, which resulted in a loss. I need ND to go 5-3 down the stretch. You need them to go 3-5... USC, NC State, Navy, Stanford and Miami are all tough games.

I'm good for the money and will happily pay up if I lose as long as you're a respectable person who will do the same.

Any takers?

Really, 8 games with a good, not great schedule, is the bet. I'd think a first year middle school coach could take this talent and win 8. No reason they don't get to 9 wins at the very least. The schedule is not that tough, to the point that ND may already be eliminated from playoff contention. Miami and USC can match talent, but nobody else on the schedule can do the same.

I will say watching the locker room after the MSU game made me fell that maybe the guy is atleast coming around. I'm more accustomed to him berating his QB into the ground. Maybe Kelly has decided to make some changes, not playing Dex makes me wonder, but I sure hope so for the sake of the team.

People were screaming 6-6 or 7-5. I was (and still am) willing to oblige at 8-4... I didn't think this team would be awesome right away with a first year quarterback, seven new coaches and shallow depth and inexperience along the defensive line. I felt 8-4 was solid and a 1-2 game departure from what some people were predicting.

I enjoy a good bet from time to time. I thought it would be a fun way to add a little bit extra to the season. I still do if I have any takers over the last 8 games.

Not a true ND fan if you get any get any takers for a bet like this. 11-1 is what ND fans should be hoping for, regardless of the coaching.

I'm feeling 10- 2 is very doable base on the running game, and a surprisingly mature defense allowing the QB time to develop for the December part of the schedule.

I see at least 9-3 They could go to 11-1. But injuries could prevent that

Are you willing to bet against 9-3?

Nope. I'm right at the 8-4, 9-3 range. Have been all along. I'm looking for those people that were predicting 6-6 and 7-5 to qualify their prediction via a bet before we are too deep in the season and we know the definite direction of the team. 1/3 into the season, with a 3-1 record, there is still a bet to be made. If it goes any longer, It's too advantageous to one side or the other because of established result. There is no risk at that point.

Middle school coach could win 8?
Why even post?

The BC/Clemson game (at Clemson) was 7-7 start of 4Q.
NCState just won at FSU.
UGA is top 10.
USC is top 10.
Miami is top 15.
Stanford will be top 25 when ND gets there.
Navy is Navy...

Middle school coach...lol
