Another preseason poll .... ND top 10

I have a great idea for a new sport. I am thinking I will introduce it to a bunch of people close to me so we can really refine the sport. Then, we will play other people - teaching them this new game. Of course we will probably win most of these games because we will have had this "first mover" advantage, but over time we will also tweak the rules (probably to make sure we win more games). If anyone else gets a little "forward thinking" and wants to change the rules; well, we will make it difficult for them.

We will hire one of our own to be the coach. He will be a fervent supporter for our team - and of course making sure we keep this "first mover" advantage. Sure, some people may think of him as very arrogant and even a bigot - and for those people, we will decline to play them. After all, people like this will probably end up being better than us, and we can't be seen as not being the best. Some people may think of this as being exclusionary - we just think of this as being selective. You see, we just want to play people that we think we can beat.

Other teams can feel free to criss cross the land and play all of these other subservient teams that are certainly beneath us. But they are not us - we are the ones who are important. We will forever look back on these original times as our glory years; continually citing the great victories we had while we won game after game (against these teams who were still learning the rules). Many years from now, each team that participates in this sport will have a strong following. These maniacal fans will congregate into discussion forums organized by team. But our following will still be the best. In fact, we will go to other social media sites for these other teams and point this out to them - lest they forget. These other fans may not even come to our social media site. They must be so afraid of us, they can't even visit our site. I have to keep telling myself this - because it can't be me.

This will be a great sport - I can't wait to see it succeed.

(Please feel free to share my great idea on other sites - I don't waste my time going to other team's sites like the people who come to this one and whine)

Haha, you also know the history of Michigan. And their "point a minute" coach who threw a hissy when ND finally beat them in 1909, took his ball & went home. But not before trying to end ND's program. Love it.

So losing to a major rival and beating that rival is "about the same" to Mochigan fans??

That explains why all your rivals have kicked the ever living sh*t out of you...
Ha! Yeah, that's not at all I was saying - and you know that. I was calling you out for all your (albeit funny) chest beating about beating Michigan State who "kicked the ever living shit" out of us last year.
On the very last play of the game.
Courtesy of a brainfart by our kicker.

As an aside, I can't wait for your "predictions" when it comes to Michigan football this season. We have an insanely light front end schedule, so I'll imagine you'll be generous and give us six wins.

If ND was in the Big10 they would be in the Big10 title game every year.
No you wouldn't. But then again, I bet you think nd would roll through any schedule. Maybe nd should become an NFL team. Clearly, your team is not challenged in college.

ND would be in the top 3-4 contenders; at this time tOSU with Meyer would be the big dog.

UM fans football ?, when was the last championship UM won? anything on a national level?

UM fans are not the group to come here and talk smack, for sure. Bama or FSU fans, maybe USC or LSU; but not UM fans!

(UM, having thrown it's lot in with the devil, should be able to have a few good season; give the devil it's due knowing his time is short!)

Who cares? ND would never go undefeated in the big ten, let alone win the big ten.
Sometimes that entails winning one or two really competitive games in a season. What makes you think we could never do that?

Your position isn't factial, it's hypothetical. See the difference? The historical data I provided is all things that actually happened. (Except I guess the final score was 31-0 because the UM QB dropped like brick).
I'm 38 actually. Read a lot of ND, college football books on deployments. So I love reading about history of the sport. See the AF next to the ND in my name? I got my degree from Air Force & spent 6 years ('99-'05) in a special tactics squadron (STS) who specialized in combat search and rescue. I read probably 30 books on ND & college football while deployed, reminded me of back home (Notre Dame). I was on a team of operators that included UM fans, Bama, FSU etc, so we hashed it out all the time. No big deal to me.

I did not claim that my position regarding ND in the big ten was a fact. I specifically mentioned that it was my position. Not your position or anyone else's. Thank you for your service. Much Appreciated. I enjoy the back and forth.
Thanks, much appreciated.

But I STRONGLY disagree with the statement ND couldn't compete in the Big10. Purdue & Indiana can't compete, not ND.

If ND was in the Big10 they would be in the west. Iowa won the west last year, & lost on a last minute TD to MSU (who won at UM & at OSU) in the title game by 3. Let's replace Iowa with ND & look at their schedule. So if ND was in the west, here is their schedule:

Illinois St
Iowa St
Pitt
North Texas
Wisconsin
Illinois
Northwestern
Maryland
Indiana
Minnesota
Purdue
Nebraska

So you are honestly telling me ND couldn't compete with that schedule?

If ND was in the Big10 they would be in the Big10 title game every year.

To clarify my position further, ND would very very rarely win the Big Ten, if at all. Your scenario above presumes ND in the West with the most favorable cross over matchups possible (and obviously doesn't include the opponent in the Big Ten Title Game). Even in that scenario, ND would, at best, lose in the title game to a superior Big Ten East opponent. ND rarely goes unscathed against Big Ten opponents when they only play 2-3 in a season. A full schedule, including the toughest team lately (OSU), would result in a standard of 2-3 Big Ten losses IMO.
