An Ohio State takeover at Notre Dame?

Jackass, no. They have one of the largest alumni bases in the nation and are 4 hrs from ND- a bucket list destination. Their student population is 600% that of NDs.
Correct. 48,000 undergrads annually at Ohio St. Notre Dame has around 8500.

Not to mention Notre Dame is a bucket list trip for those CFB fans whose team does not get to Notre Dame very often, demand for certain games like Ohio St. is high. $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

I just don’t get the desire to sell the tickets even at $1k… if you can afford to have yearly season tickets the whole point is to go to games like this. This is a rare opportunity for nd fans too! I get not all season ticket holders are huge nd fans and there’s a lot of corporations but still.

I do. Money. Cash. And when you play a school like Ohio St. that takes CFB seriously, has an annual undergrad population of 48,000 and is 4 hours away by car, and your team is playing at an iconic, bucket list venue like Notre Dame that does not happen very often....unlike Michigan every 2 years, this is what you get.

I was at an OSU - Indiana game - at Indiana - about 6 or 7 years ago and it was estimated that 75 to 80% of the crowd was OSU. and the stadium was really full. And that was just for shitty Indiana. Every time OSU did something really good on the field, you knew it by the huge pro OSU crowd noise. It was just unreal - they can take over a Midwest stadium if you let them. To say that they take CF and the Buckeyes seriously is a HUGE understatement.

The IU fan base could not care less about football. Basketball is a different story.

I fully understand that and agree 100%. But I talked to a few IU fans that day that said that no other fan base comes close to taking over their stadium like OSU. My point is that ND has to guard against this BS as you can bet many OSU fans will try. That's the largest and most fanatical fan base in the country and most of them are concentrated in a somewhat reasonably short driving distance to South Bend

You see the pic? That’s well over half my man. If you don’t think that’s embarrassing as an ND fan than idk what to tell you.
Of course.

And again, by next season, it will be 50,000 Georgia fans, not the 45,000 you stated yesterday.

OSU taking over your stadium is far more likely - because of the proximity and fan base size - than Georgia

This 100%. I already know some OSU fans that are willing to shell out huge money for the game.

Plus, most of the huge marquee games are huge for recruiting tools for the home team and there still might be a key player or two that both OSU and ND are going after. And you're going to let them take over? Seriously? Give me an effing break

I had been to a game or two every year for like 12 years in a row before COVID-19. I have been back to Campus once since March 2020 and thinkin this game may be my next game. I will god willing be there and wearing Green.....Go Irish!

Irish wear green for the OSU game is the mantra I have been seeing all off season on Twitter. There is no reason in hades for Irish fans to sell out especially to Bucknuts!

For some, $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ talks.

Not saying ND should do it... I was just responding to your post that made it seem like ND invented the practice.
Fine; since ND had the bright idea of copying other schools practicing price discrimination to make the big games very expensive thus abandoning a 100 year tradition of every ticket is the same. That is not the action of a school that wants us to come back to campus as often as we can to support the team in the big games. It is an obvious play to maximize the bottom line revenue.

Even after gas, it may be cheaper for many Buckeys to see their team in Bloomington.

If ND fans are going to sell their tickets, then at least try and sell to other ND fans. That’s not going to happen and it’s embarrassing to have OSU fans in the house that Rockne built.

Devil's advocate. The fans who sell these marquis tickets may just be selling short. They may well believe Notre Dame will get its ass kicked against OSU.....again.....and decide that pocketing a profit is a more practical move. Notre Dame should learn how to win some of these games...and make the profiteers regret their choice. Right now....they don't see the upside.
“Loyalty” often comes at a price !

You are not a “true” and “loyal” Notre Dame fan if you sell your tickets to an Ohio State fan !

That would be a traitorous act !

OSU fans travel and will in large numbers because they see Notre Dame as more enjoyable roadkill on their way to the playoffs. Notre Dame has got to find a way to win this game....late field goal, two point conversion, run out the clock....whatever it takes. OSU fans need to have a four hour drive home that feels like eight. I want to hear what's left of SportsCenter making excuses for OSU and why they lost. I want to watch Ryan Day's post game news conference explaining the loss. It's time for this to happen this year.
👍
