An Ohio State takeover at Notre Dame?

The worst and most impolite CFB fan base I have ever been around are Ohio St. football fans. Low Budget.
I ve been to at least 40 D1 stadiums. You couldn't be more accurate. That said Nebraska fans were easily the nicest I've encountered as a fan. The atmosphere there was terrific.

Ohio state is definitely the worst

Penn state has the best in stadium atmosphere when it’s a white out

Purdue a bit hostile, more than I expected

Michigan so so

The south just loves football so much they are mostly all very nice

It’s well accepted that they are among the worst. I’ve heard the old Miami orange bowl crowd was flat out dangerous. My worst experience was at BC. They all pale in comparison to the Philadelphia Eagles.

I’ve wondered with the technology available today, why ND doesn’t check to see which season ticket holder seats are represented by opposing fans, and revoke their tickets…

Why?

I attended an LA Dodger at LA Angel game recently, and the sold out 44,000 seat stadium was 60% Dodger fans, many of them in the best seats. The Notre Dame admin should not care less what ND people do with their tickets if Buckeye fans want to over pay for seats, like Georgia fans did. It's a bucket list thing for Ohio State fans, who are without question the worst and most impolite CFB fan base I have ever been around.

Because it’s embarrassing to the program and hurts the team. College football is great because home field advantage means something. Think of recruiting. You think players want to play in front of 45,000 visiting fans?

Why should the administration give preference to ND “fans” who sell their tickets on Ticketmaster for insane profit?
Administration doesn’t see that money.

Also, insane comparison. MLB has 80+ home games. We get 6…

Now it's 45,000 visiting fans. LMAO. The Georgia visiting crowd has risen 5,000 every season since 2017.

Good to know you love turning on NBC hearing, “It’s a sea of red here in South Bend, IN.”

Also that administration shouldn’t care about (your words) the worst and most impolite fanbase sitting in season ticket holder seats. Seats other ND fans would die for but maybe can’t afford the 7x multiple an already rich doner put on the ticket.

Do you not think this hurts the team and recruiting?

Recruits care more about a big Network prime time match up of 2 blue bloods that both should be in the top 10 even top 5 in the case of OSU. The atmosphere will take care of itself. The problem ND has is we havent won enough of these games. Plus its hard when these recruits have been on track for a NFL & now NIL payday to sell them a 40 year plan.

What happened to the Clemson take over last season?

In the Clemson game, ND fans did a great job of showing up in force. In this context, Columbus is also a little over 4+ hours away. Unfortunately they will be well represented in South Bend, mainly due to proximity and the fact that this is the first time they've come to South Bend since 1996. Many of their fans will have this as a CFB dream trip. ND fans should be looking to pack the stadium to support the team in a home game of this magnitude, not dump tickets. If ND can beat NC State week 3, they should be undefeated heading into that game.

Yes driving distance and Ohio's somewhat large population does not bode well for the stadium. Add that our alumni are scattered around the country, and ND had the bright idea of making the big games more expensive.

Maryland. Worst fans ever

Devil's advocate. The fans who sell these marquis tickets may just be selling short. They may well believe Notre Dame will get its ass kicked against OSU.....again.....and decide that pocketing a profit is a more practical move. Notre Dame should learn how to win some of these games...and make the profiteers regret their choice. Right now....they don't see the upside.

Frankly, I do not care what Notre Dame Football fans and ticket holders do. If you want to sell your tickets for 2-3-4-5x face value, do so.

Notre Dame can't help it if this is a bucket list trip for opposing fans.

Heck, I don't blame Ohio State fans for over paying.

The fans can help by SHOWING UP. What happened against Georgia was embarrassing.

You really think ND came up with the "marquee game" ticket price???? B1G & SEC schools have been doing it for over 20 years.
Oh well, if an association of large government institutions does something then we should do it too.

Did not find it embarrassing whatsoever. That's your problem. And the legend of how many Georgia fans were actually in the stadium grows annually.

Yesterday I read it was 45,000. SMH.

OSU fans travel and will in large numbers because they see Notre Dame as more enjoyable roadkill on their way to the playoffs. Notre Dame has got to find a way to win this game....late field goal, two point conversion, run out the clock....whatever it takes. OSU fans need to have a four hour drive home that feels like eight. I want to hear what's left of SportsCenter making excuses for OSU and why they lost. I want to watch Ryan Day's post game news conference explaining the loss. It's time for this to happen this year.

I thought the post was going to be about Ohio State taking over recruiting supremacy or overall supremacy in the Midwest in CFB not actually taking over and but yes NDs fan base is old and stodgy, extra reverent and not very fanatical.

Add in ND being a bucket list for other fan bases gonna have lots of other teams fans taking good chunks out of the stadium for these games.

Other fan bases aren't worried for their safety in South Bend to say the least.. a rather pleasant game day experience.

Jackass, no. They have one of the largest alumni bases in the nation and are 4 hrs from ND- a bucket list destination. Their student population is 600% that of NDs.
