Pretty damn good for one conference. Unfortunately they have to play each other. Otherwise, they might make up the Final 4!

It has always been known as a basketball conference. It's it bread and butter .

This is true. And football continues to improve with teams in the final 4 and the NC recently. Meanwhile, baseball and women's sports continue to be strong as well. Very all around athletic and academic conference.

The baseball is very good as well. I regards to football you take FSU and Clemson (whose every 3rd year is strong) out and you have Big East football

Although this has been true in the past the times they are a changing. Let's take a look at some ACC teams that have given ND a run for their money.

* Louisville-beat ND 2014

* Pitt-beat ND 2013

* UNC-ND pulled out a squeaker in 2014, 50-43

* BC-ND won last year by 3. Final 19-16

And let's take a look at some ACC teams doing some serious rebuilding, adding new facilities and new coaches.

* Miami-Take a look at their recruiting and the track record of Mark Richt. Miami is right in the middle of a hotbed where most big time programs endeavor to recruit, ND included. Although one poster here predicts ND will beat Miami by 34 points this year let's see how it goes with Richt after a couple or three years.

* VT-Beamer is gone and now comes Justin Fuente. First Brian Kelly was recruiting 4-star QB Hendon Hooker but now he has committed to VT. Pundits are now saying Fuente is the coach that can bring VT back to their glory days. And he will have the help of defensive guru Bud Foster.

* Duke-David Cutcliffe produced a 10 win season and played for the ACC Championship recently. Don't sell them short.

* NC State-Coach Dave Doeren is in the process of turning the program around in much the same way that Lou Holtz did before him.

* Syracuse-New coach. The jury is out. Check back in a couple of years.

Meanwhile, ND's ACC schedule this year is devoid of any ACC traditional winners as of late. So.....this should be the year for ND to capitalize on a schedule that includes service academies and a weak Nevada team. There is little reason why ND should not make the final 4 this year.

Notre Dame has lost to the worse of them. The ACC teams ND plays this season will surely hurt their SOS. At this point the ACC is a one team show in regards to a continual tournament threat IMO

Pitt has beaten the Irish 21 times since 1909. (series record stands at 48-21-1)

So, the Irish lost to Pitt during their inaugural year in the ACC, like that's something to hang your ACC boots on?

Guess you forgot that Louisville managed to hang on for a three-point victory and Pitt beat the Irish by a TD in 2013. Squeakers and close games cut both ways.

The ACC is a drag on Notre Dame. Good for the ACC, bad for ND.
Then leave the ACC and we'll use our good Bowl tie ins for deserving teams. I already said this in another thread awhile back. In 2014, Notre Dame with a 7-5 record was able to land in a very high quality Music City Bowl against a quality LSU team. If Notre Dame wasn't affiliated with the ACC, then they wouldn't have been in any Bowls that have an ACC tie in. That puts them in a tier 3 bowl against a Mid Major in years they aren't in a New Years Six because most of the quality Bowls have conference tie ins. Couple with that, Notre Dame doesn't have to Revenue share in Football. So tell me how that is bad for Notre Dame and good for the ACC? About the only thing the ACC gets in Football from this deal is five games a year against Notre Dame. And these are really structured no different than Home and Home in which the home teams gets the revenue when the game is played.

The only argument you even make about how this hurts Notre Dame is the strength of schedule. That's a horrible argument because Notre Dame has been playing ACC teams for years. Pitt, Wake, BC and teams like that. Couple with that, you already play Navy every year and Navy is hardly good for strength of schedule. For example, in 2013 (the year before the ACC scheduling agreement began), Notre Dame's schedule included these six teams that obviously were better for your strength of schedule than what you have now: Temple, Purdue, Air Force, Navy, Pitt (who beat you) and Rutgers. And please tell me how the years when Notre Dame plays Florida State or Clemson hurts Strength of Schedule. And without the deal with the ACC you wouldn't be playing Florida State and Clemson every three years.

"This is the NCAA tournament, where basketball is king and bragging rights are at stake. After a regular season spent lauding the Big 12 for its strength and depth — many considered it among the strongest leagues in recent memory — it’s been the Atlantic Coast Conference stealing all the headlines throughout the NCAA tournament.

Four ACC teams reached the Elite Eight, and they all are on the same half of the bracket, guaranteeing two ACC teams in the Final Four and an ACC representative in the national championship game.

So, does that mean the ACC is and was actually the nation’s best — or deepest — conference this year? Most would say yes."

Duo is an FSU fan trolling a Notre Dame board. Therefore he knows noting about ND, nothing about me and nothing about decency!

Are you proud is Winston and proud to call him one of yours?

Hi Alice,

Yep, that's true. Don't think ND will be losing to any ACC football teams this year. The teams on ND's ACC schedule this year just aren't that strong by anyone's measure. That said, it would be fairly embarrassing if somehow an ACC team were to pull off an upset. The only possible chance of that happening might be Miami but that is very doubtful with Mark Richt in his first year as the Miami head coach. Remember a poster here has predicted ND will beat Miami by 34 points. So..........everything considered, ND's football strength and the weak schedule, it should be clear sailing all the way to the Final 4 playoffs for ND this year.

2017 should be more interesting when ND travels to play BC, UNC and Miami on the road with NC State and Wake at home.

2018 should be very interesting when ND plays Syracuse, Pitt and FSU at home and travels to play VT and Wake on the road.

Any time Notre Dame loses to any ACC team it is an embarrassment and any association to the likes of FSU is repulsive!

Schmidynole,

Wake has played ND three times, the first in 2012, they never played ND on a regular basis.

The most disrespectful thing anyone could do to the University of Notre Dame is to go on the internet message boards posting under different aliases like argusman, holy smoke, epictitus, big fella fan, tim terrific and a host of others and even talk with himself and try to curry favor with real Notre Dame alumni and fans. His trademarks are hate, poor grammar, name calling and vulgarity. How utterly embarrassing this is for all the Notre Dame faithful.

No the most disrespectful thing any human being can do is to protect those who commit crimes against women and that is what FSU and its coaches have paid out money to stop the courts from investigating.

FSU is disgusting and so are its fans who defend such behavior but the Feds are still coming to clean up the garbage tolerated for 40 years.

Argusman went to Maryville Teacher's College (aka NW Missouri State in Maryville, Missouri). He dropped out and never graduated or received a degree. Of course, you could have guessed that just by reading his posts. All his clap-trap is a figment of his imagination as he tries to curry favor from ND graduates and fans.

Argusman's "alma mater" bwahahahaha!:

The original mission of the school, initially known as the Fifth District Normal School, was to teach elementary school teachers.

Class bell
In 1919 the school was renamed Northwest Missouri State Teacher's College. In 1949 the name was shrunk to Northwest Missouri State College. It's an alternative school for students that failed the entrance exams for the University of Missouri in Columbia.

Right on!! Either way the ACC is in the Final 4 and then either way the ACC is in the National Championship!

Its not about ACC representation in the final four. Its about Notre Dame in the Final Four and National Championshiop, nole troll.

Way to rep the ACC.....ND. Congrats on a great run. All ND alum and REAL fans posting under one name can be proud! And now the ACC is 1/2 the Final 4 and will play for the National Championship. An amazing accomplishment for ND and the conference. ;)

Hi Alice......Ummm, a tad weaker.

Sagarin had the SOS of FSU in triple digits last September, the SOS ended up being ranked at 51. (Texas State and the Chattanooga Mocs) The Irish schedule is that weak?

Who knows? The schedule doesn't look daunting, but until the games are played??? At least, there's no scrimmage with the Chattanooga Mocs the week before the Irish head to LA to plays SC. :D

Well I won't be rooting for the acc, if its North Carolina in the championship game.
And yes I'm a real ND fan to a fault sometimes, not sure what you would know about that, so you're best not to worry about it.
I can do all this by posting under one name unlike you , nole troll.;)

Thanks nin. Been posting under the same name here for years.

I hear ya Alice. 2 service academies plus ada

Alice...........

Sorry, the post above got stuck somehow? What I was about to say was 2 service academies plus Nevada trump FSU's 15' schedule.

How about FSU scheduling Navy instead of the Citadel?

Citadel...........ugh, horrible. 2 FSU linemen went down with ankle injuries in the 1st quarter! Later Citadel admin apologized as some of their players bragged how they were out to injure FSU players. Not that Navy would be much better?

Navy is better than 80% of the ACC in most every year.

Duo is a piece of garbage and comes here like other FSU fans to hate on Notre Dame and spread his nonsense. The fact that he attacks me with a most entertaining biography is further proof of his lack of a life. If I was a graduate of Northeast Missouri State it would be far better than the grammar school who kicked you out of school for peeping on the little boys!

I have never had but one name. Nor have I ever been anything but complimentary on this site. Sorry, can't say that for all that come here. And, living in NC, I hate the Tarholes. Make of that what you will..

Show me a Nole fan and I'll show you a hypocrite. It is uncanny how few have any ethical fiber whatsoever. I suppose when you root for the likes of Bowden, Jumbo and Winston it is hard to have much decency about yourself.

Not better? Seriously? The two programs aren't even in the same NCAA football division. Why all the hate for Navy when FSU schedules the likes of Idaho, Bethume-Cookman and Nevada (2013). Yes, I know FSU plays Old Miss out of the gate in 2016, but a look back at recent schedules shows FSU isn't coy about scheduling cupcakes.

My post was in response to duo. Sorry for the confusion.
