5 plays that stood out to me that I can't stop thinking about.

1. 3rd and 5 on OSU first drive. Could have been a 3 and out. Or any stop on 3rd down in the first half would have been huge.
2. Botched snap that Evans recovered
3. Dropped pass on fake punt
4. Missed FG
5. J. Smith 56 yard catch

1.3rd & 5 was clear offensive pi on Smith should of been 15 yards & been a 3rd & 20
2. False start on Collins I think Price goes for a big chunk play
3. When it 14-7 refs missed a huge holding call on 3rd down on Rubio. He beat his man and got tackled right in front of ref. OSU had a big pass play that put them 1st goal.
4. Thought they could of gotten OSU CB for PI on fade play on 2nd & goal. OSU db's were held all night.
5. Why wasnt Moore on Smith on the biggest down of the season especially when you are in 0 coverage?

I'm already looking to next year to make another run at the NC

QB - Carr
RB - Love
TE - Raridon
WR - Greathouse
WR - Faison
WR - Fields
LT - Lambert
LG - Schrauth
C - Craig
RG - Jagusah
RT - Wagner

DE - Traore
DE - Young
DT - Rubio
DT - Louisville kid name?
LB - KVA
LB - Sneed
CB - Moore
CB - Gray
NB - Smith
S - Shuler
S - Stroman

Talented squad. Hope guys come back healthy and we don't have any key transfers

Most of those were the wrong call.

2. I don't know what we were doing with the same motion over and over but obviously you don't snap into motion.
3. The world's most obvious fake punt.
4. bad
5. Bad call to blitz everyone. And if you are doing that then the CB has to run press coverage and divert the route so the qb might throw it to no one. You might tell the CB to grab on and dare the refs to call it (like anOSU does every time).

Either Coogan was early or Evans was late. They've been running variations of that all year. Poor execution.

Ohio state was clearly the better team. I mean it was obvious. That’s why they were favored to win. ND needed a near perfect game to win. Losing sucks. I just look at that Ohio State offense and ND was overmatched. They fought back. Played as hard as they could. Mistakes against a team like that are hard to overcome. Very disappointing. But it was a great season and I hope more are on the horizon. Go Irish ☘️

Yep. As a fan disappointed for sure but not upset. Amazing season. So many really good young players. They'll be right back in the thick of it next season.

I really don't think ND was expecting the long pass. I think they were either trying to stuff a run or just get to Howard. Reminds me of 2005 Charlie Weis team v Dwayne Jarret in the Bush Push game. I think the offensive play calls were idiotic which led to the missed Mitch Jeter FG which made the OSU win inevitable. And to the OP, OSU OL was holding our players all night long. I don't blame Golden. I blame Denbrock for awful play calling notwithstanding the first drive. Fake punt pass was too low and away.

I don't blame anyone. The clearly better team won a hard fought game. End of story.

Ohio State was better, but not by that much.

Who knows what happens if we have 2 or 3 of the DL who were out. The DL was out manned all night. We couldn't touch Howard. Couldn't touch him. He stood back there comfortable all night and just played catch w this 3 NFL WRs.

Even on the 3 and 10 blitz (I liked the call), we didn't get home. We just weren't able to pressure Howard.

The portal and Saban being out has created a lot of parity. ND is gonna be in the mix going forward. We'll have more opportunities.

One thing I've learned over the years is to not look too far ahead. The team might take a couple steps backward next year with the loss of the senior leaders, the possibility that Golden or other coaches leave, the way the schedule plays out, etc... That's what makes it so frustrating. We climbed up to the summit and got pushed off far too easily.

Spot on. It’s hard to sustain year after year. New starters next year. New QB. No one knows how the team will mesh. We shall see

Agree. But we were a 3rd and 10 away from getting the call back and making the game about as interesting as it could be. Then we got beat by the best player maybe in the country.

ND didn't play well. The injuries on D caught up w us. We couldn't run. The OL was actually pretty pedestrian. And it was still a 1 possession game late.

ND will have more opportunities.

IMO, we need:

1. A QB to emerge and be "that guy". Carr, Angeli, Minchey.
2. Recruit the DL better. That group has to be bigger, deeper, more athletic. It needs to shut down run game.
3. Continue to recruit at a high level on the OL.
4. Keep Al Golden.
5. Use the portal to fill holes, and find big time contributors.

I know. Howard's not bad, of course. His completion % for the season was over 70. He's a good QB, obviously. But you combine our feared pass defense, with what had become through injuries a wounded, and inevitably a somewhat anemic pass rush, and it was a recipe for picking apart a defense with the shorter, safe, easy stuff. And I guess that's what happened. Good on them if they were determined to exploit that, but frustrating! And with all that, we were one 3rd and long stop from getting the ball back with a chance to drive the field and tie the game, after going down 31-7 in the second half.

That would have to be a record come from behind if we could have tied it up.

I thought it was actually a delay of game penalty....... that was on leonard for being late getting the whole process started, then he panicked as time was running out. Leonard wasn't himself in the first half after the first drive.

When you play cover 0 (Stupid) and you know your WR is better than our corner (gray), you have no shot at getting home, it's the easiest wr and qb read in the world. Gray made it so obvious he was on inside leverage, so smith runs go route and howard throws it. ND made it so easy for ohio state. Full moron by Golden. It wasn't 3rd and 3 it was 3rd and 11. ND PLAYED COVER 0 ON 3RD AND 11?!?!! People at cincy don't want golden now due to that call alone, and they're right. Full out moronic call. 3rd and 11 and you give them the easiest read ever.

That 3rd and 11 was a worse cover 0 call than USC 2005

i just can't comprehend on 3rd and 11 going cover 0.

I didn't have a problem with blitzing there. Howard had too much time to throw most of the night, when we weren't blitzing as much. He made a great throw there. It is what it is.

Clear OPI on what should have been a BenMo pick too.

Blitzing isn't the issue. he brough watts in which was a useless blitz and sent 7.

If watts is help over the top instead of his useless blitz that game would have been a lot more interesting the last 2 minutes
