I think Ed Orgeron can look back and smile at his time at LSU. He never should have been hired in the first place, but because he was such a lovable, gruff-voiced, native Louisianan and genuine cajun, they decided to install him as a jovial frontman, and the boosters would spare no expense to provide the best assistant coaches money can buy, and they'd do most of the real coaching.
Which is exactly what happened....
And they managed to produce during his tenure one of the great CFB teams of all time. And Ed Orgeron is now a national-championship winning coach. And no one can take that away from him.
I think it worked out great for both Big O and LSU. And they quickly cut ties because they already got a championship, and so why drag it out? They want more championships! Mission accomplished as far as Orgeron goes...
And a repeat of what happened with Coach O is kind of what I'm expecting with BK. And I figure LSU is thinking the same thing. Difference being BK actually is a totally good HC, and if you provide someone like him with top assistants and everything money can buy to set up a CFB program for success, that maybe they can turn the same trick twice, only BK will provide a much more substantive framework, and blueprint for success than Ed Orgeron. He's more than a frontman.
So good luck to BK. If LSU wants to pay for all your shit and hire all your coaches, let them do it....
