I disagree. And that writer also has Miami as an underrated team. Miami hasn't proven anything yet. Last year, they started out #16 and finished 5-7.
I’d say 9-3 is totally acceptable for Freeman and everyone should be happy for him for that. The admin has done next to nothing to support him. He can’t hire who he wants. He can’t get the admin to support NIL measures that make us competitive. We don’t spend money on facilities to match the top programs. We haven’t won a single big bowl game in 30 years.
Marcus had 3 5 star players committed and lost them at the end. A QB, safety, and Vyper, all who would have contributed this year but they bolted bc the admin isn’t interested in winning. This could potentially happen every single year. Cam and CJ will get offered mega bags after they show out their senior years. They might be more invested. Let’s hope so. Maybe they stay maybe they go. If they bolt, Freeman will then revert to BK era RKG stuff. Most likely, Freeman will be at Ohio State before long, where he’s able to get support needed to win a championship. Until then he will grind in recruiting within the archaic regulations and win as many games as he can. Then he will get the promotion to OSU.
If Jack retires, we could see Freeman get the support he needs to get back to winning.

Now don’t go throwing out that truth serum to the board. They will accuse you of being Chase’s clone and tell you ND isn’t that far away…forgetting that in 2024 with a new playoff system ND would have to beat 4 top 12 teams in a row to win the Natty. Not likely. So you’ll be told to just follow another team or get off the board altogether. Still not addressing the root cause of the problem which is the administration and JS. Until those things get fixed (which they won’t) you might consider pulling out that 1988 tape against West Virginia to remind you of what it was like to win the big one!
Our best odds is to follow the Clemson model. Recruit 10’ish level and get the top QB. Dante Moore comes to mind. Then, hope he pans out to be Trever Lawrence. But we lost him over money and then we lost the OC over money and then lost the guy Freeman wanted to replace that OC with over money.. We then hired a horrible OC candidate for reputation and elite QB reciting and luckily still have CJ. But I don’t see this OC landing the top overall QB in 2025 and I don’t see us finishing inside the top 5 until Jack is gone. Either consistently land to 5 classes or get the #1 overall QB. Doing neither isn’t going to do shit.
ND is a competitor for the final 4. ND will be a top 10 team at the seasons end. Get behind ND!
1. We have a QB coach now that will be the draw to qbs...and that's a good thing
2. You honestly know nothing about the oc. How do I know? Because no one does. He's never called his own offense. I think it's fair to say "unproven oc" but you can't say horrible knowing he's never ran the ship.
3. He wasn't hired for reputation, he was hired because he is on the same page and has a preexisting relationship with the school and the hc.
I didn't say I liked the hire. Just saying he's horrible isnt really fair or accurate.
My understanding is he wants to press downfield and over the middle. that alone is a win over his predecessor

The only reason I am fine with “loosening” academics is bc they already bend them to a pathetic degree. The fact that Tae Johnson is visiting is proof. ND’s football team has 0 players that could ever in a million years get admitted to the school without football. The average undergraduate student vs a ND football player is so vastly different in academic achievement it’s a totally different universe. I’m not worried about academics. They don’t make it hard to get in if they’re good at football
My issue with not caring about hiring the best coaches coaches, worrying about pinching pennys, not building the best facilities, resisting any and all change that is best for kids until it’s too late to be of any benefit. They always eventually do things. They just like to be last. They don’t support freeman. The losses are on Jack. He doesn’t have his OC. He got burned on multiple recruits.

If you have even the slightest idea how difficult it is to get into ND you know my statement isn’t just a fact, it is common sense. Our football players do not have a 4.1 gpa and 99th percentile SAT scores. That’s literally a fact. Also, ND has the same statistics for admissions as Harvard, but we admit fewer. ND is harder to get into than Harvard. ND’s football players are all extremely average run of the mill kids academically. Many have 3.0 or less.

There are certainly some players who would be able to get into Notre Dame. Not many but for you to act like it's zero is incorrect. If you say it's a fact, prove it. Share their SAT scores along with their gpa. The fact is you cannot. You do not know
There are plenty of kids who have 4.0 gpas plus from high school. I've seen them talk about it. I ha e no idea their sat scores but you are wrong
I am 100% certain the vast majority of our players do not have a 4.1 AND a 99th percentile SAT. Please.

I said 4.1 and SAT scores. SAT is much harder. I already conceded that there could be some. Most no way and there’s proof. There’s no proof that Love had a 1500 SAT. Maybe he did. But it doesn’t change the fact that most would never get in. My original premise is we already bend the rules so the talk about how we won’t bend academic rules is bs. We do.
