23 QB

What happened to Kenny Minchey? That's the guy we should have offered back in the spring. We're a bit of a disappointment, but so is Pitt, and we just stomped Clemson, and he would have a great chance to play here! That hasn't changed. Pyne has sort of a week to week hold on the starting job, perhaps you might say. And there's definitely room at the top, at the QB position at ND!

Anyway, I hope he's still quietly in the mix for this recruiting class....

The QB recruiting in 23 is shockingly bad.
Yep, it seems Chiles would be Irish if we went hard from what I can gather. Based on the above, it seems Johnson is still trying to flip Edwards. Edwards has been all love for ND on Twitter lately so I don’t see that happening. Not going after chiles either means there’s a legit shot at a bigger fish to fry or the staff is continuing their epic qb recruiting blunder for 2023.

At this point, if we cant get a game changer in the 23 class or a kid with high upside, Im not taking anyone and getting someone in the portal.

Portal guy. Buchner, Pyne, Angeli all a year older and hopefully all improved

Reports surfacing that Avery Johnson is definitely out as a possibility at ND.
Kenny Minchey announced he will enroll early at Pitt.

It's nearing the end.

Only positive to Buchner's injury is I assume this means Pyne and Buchner will both return next season as they both have reason to believe they can be the starter.

the miss at QB in 2023 is a bigger blow to this program than the Marshall and Stanford losses combined. it's inexcusable and frankly pathetic given the tremendous job HH has done with the OL, Deland has done with recruiting the future and developing the current running backs, great recruiting job Stuckey has done with getting guys like Greathouse, James, Flores to commit, and the amazing defensive haul we are bringing in. adding to the patheticness of the entire thing is the fact that a QB could come in and play early with little competition. it gets said a lot, but you literally have to try to suck this bad at QB recruiting.

No its not. But yes qb recruiting has been awful this year.

But 23 starter will be a portal guy. Then we have Carr in 24. Its not ideal, but not terrible if we get a good transfer, which we should

My guess is we get either Card from Texas or Leary from North Carolina St via the portal, and get a commitment from Hillman as an athlete, but also a potential change of pace QB for us. Of course my guess is heavily weighted by my hopes.

Well Buchner would be the change of pace but I doubt we'd use it with a qb like Leary

Disagree. The portal guy isn’t a 4 year kid they can start multiple years. If Carr falls flat we still don’t have an elite qb. We needed a 4-5 star kid that could compete to beat out Carr in the event he’s a bust.

We can always go back to the portal in 24 if we need to. By that time, one of Buchner, Angeli , Pyne would have improved enough that it isnt a terrible situation.

That sounds so bad. Plus I can’t imagine they both return if we start a portal kid. You gotta get a kid that you bring in for 4 years. This is just pathetic. If we go portal I bet Pyne is gone.

Pyne wont leave until he graduates. Plus hes a competitor. He'll try to compete. He loves Notre Dame

Even if he left, in 24, we'd have Buchner and Angeli and Carr. You'd think one will be good enough. And if not, portal

Agree. Drew Pyne will run out of the tunnel for 2023 senior day and hug his Uber rich parents.
