2015 Team

Bod, my point is about JC and Kelly having a QB when he arrived.

I can understand a kid that needs to declare because his mother is sick and there are 4 more kids at home etc. To that young man we say God bless and good luck to you.

Jimmy wasn't that kid. He was worried about learning a new offense. Kelly should have assured him that the offense would emphasize his strengths and would make JC look good. Should have been a no brainer.

Oh what could have been Jimmy C, , Golden Tate, and Mike Floyd with a capable coach in 2010. That would have been great. The defense wasn't great but it was better in 2010 than 2009. I think we would have made a BCS bowl.

I may be a DB. I was totally pissed off at Coach Kelly when he decided to go for two against Northwestern. An extra point would have sealed the win for the Irish whether McDaniel fumbled or not.
The Irish were having problems kicking field goals but were still nailing the extra points.

Not sure what chance Kelly had of convincing Clausen of anything. Kelly was announced as head coach December 10th, 2009.

Here's a story about Clausen going pro ESPN did three days earlier, on December 7th.

"After the season, in talking to my parents and obviously Coach Weis, I just feel it's the right time," Clausen told ESPN.com on Monday before a news conference in South Bend. "Coach Weis told me whether he was going to be here or not be here, it was time for me to go. He thought I've improved so much since I came to Notre Dame. So, I'm taking his advice, and I'm going to head out."

Whatever Kelly's mistakes have been, he's really not responsible for Clausen.

Interesting article 98. I will withdraw my one criticism of Kelly and replace it with a sadness that Weis would give such advice. And I would hope Kelly's first phone call on the 10th would have been to Jimmy.

I will be very surpised if this team wins more than 8 games this year.

The offense will be good, but not fantastic. The defense will be disappointing. Once again, the defense will not be able to stop teams on 3rd down and get off the field. That will really hurt ND against GT and USC. A close loss to GT as their offense dominates time of possession and ND runs out of time in the 4th quarter to get the go ahead score. I suspect a high scoring game against Clem, where they will have the advantage playing at home. Then, another bad, lopsided loss to a talented USC team who simply has better, bigger, faster athletes. Finally, one more unexpected loss to one of the following teams: Temple, Pitt, Wake, BC or Stanford (like the losses to Louisville and Northwestern last year). That adds up to 8-4.

Kelly will likely be gone at the end of the season.

No matter how much logic I use, I can not for the life of me, predict ND loses a game. I predict 13-0 every year.

Why would you predict 13-0 every year when you know that's impossible, or at least, highly improbable?

I just call it like I see it, and this ND team is going to have real problems with GT defensively; problems with scoring enough points against Clem; and problems with USC in all 3 aspects of the game. Further, coach kelly always seems to lose one game per year that he shouldn't. For me, that adds up to 8-4.

ND's offense should be able to compete with anyone. ND's special teams have the talent to compete with anyone, although they have struggled over the last several years. Last year they underachieved significantly. ND's defense is a question mark. The D is very talented in some areas. My biggest question mark is Van Gorder. He is obviously an intelligent Defensive Coordinator. Last year's defense had a lot of injuries, however it was the worst defense I've seen at ND in a long time. NC simply wore ND out. Az St ditto. NW offense ditto. USC... Auburn's defense struggled to say the least under Van Gorder. Again, I don't question his knowledge, my question is can our college players execute his system against good teams. Due to injuries and multiple turnovers, last year may have been an anomaly. I hope so.

Also, Clemson has the week off before we play on their field; USC has 9 days to prepare after a home game against a weak Washington team. To add further insult to the USC game, ND will still be recovering from injuries after playing navy the week before. Not much in our favor this year.

Mateen Cleaves/Nook, logic tells me MSU will beat ND. My heart says ND finds a way to win. I know I will be wrong on a few of my picks but I am usually above .500. :D

I'm not discrediting anything that you posted in the message......but what im curious about is this. What leads you to believe that they will suffer injuries against Navy? I mean are they king of low blows or something....or are you just being a Debbie downer before we even grace the field against USC. I mean I'm a realist of the most extreme sort......but
Hell-o-fuzzy man! Somebody needs to tell the boys that they might as well just do some vigorous stretching on Oct 17 and prepare to bend over between their legs and kiss their own ass goodbye instead of even taking the first snap. Injuries happen to everyone, some teams more unlucky than others......but believe it or not I think ND has a chance against these teams even with a few injuries here and there!

Maybe go up to the team captains that Kelly selected and ramble on with what you just said and see how they deal with you.....or maybe tell Zaire since he seems to have alot of confidence in himself and most importantly his team as a whole. If i was a betting man I'd say you'd walk away with your ears drubbed over like a cabbage leaf.
