#1 QB prospect in '25 class offered $10.5M to flip from LSU to Michigan

You think ND is prepared to pay 8 figure signing bonuses to #1 prospects at their position out of HS ? I don't even think they do 6 figures to HS prospects.
They pay a lot of money thru NIL to recruits and transfers

They shouldn't offer 8 figure salaries to any recruit.

They are doing NIL right. That's why we're about to be 9 and 1 and hey, probably even move up in your F+ this week

Their record without adjustment for opponent quality is pointless because their schedule has been total dogturd this season.

ND is #8 in F+ and a solid tier 2 team. In order to put themselves in a situation where they can realistically win a national title, they still have a LONG WAY TO GO. The biggest "obstacle" in their way right now is lack of star power/elite players/difference makers at the highest level (lack of upside)

In order to get those elite players its going to cost them upwards of 8 figures out of HS (seems to be the new going rate now lol)

So i ask again...what is ND doing to keep up?

Looked at in another way: fans want better QB play, better quick strike playmaking in the passing game, etc.

the #1 QB prospect out of HS is being offered $10.5M ... this is what better QB play costs...is ND going to adapt and pay up or still live by antiquated principles that keep them playing 2nd fiddle to the real contenders for national titles every year?

Do you believe in your own rankings or not? They have 4 top 25 teams. According to F+. And 2 top 20 wins.

So you either use and believe it or you don't. Can't have it both ways

They are spending money in recruiting and NIL. They are very competitive in that space

What are you talking about ? They have 2 wins vs teams in the top 40 in F+ through week 11.

Regardless, their overall F+ rating is way behind the top 5 or so teams in the country. In order to break into that top 5/first tier its going to require them to have more firepower/elite players/star players which this roster is sorely lacking.

Star talent is now requiring 7-8 figures out of HS and teams are WILLING TO PONY UP.

Is ND going to put their antiquated ideals/principles aside and step up to the plate of big boy football or are they going stay stuck in the tier 2 & tier 3 of college football for another 30 years?

ND fan logic:

"no we dont need those elite players that are going to the first tier of teams, we're fine with 4th year transfers and 3 & 4 star prospects over here"

but can't make the connection with how this limits the upside of the football team and keeps them stuck playing 2nd fiddle to those teams getting those elite players.

We have a lot of elite players.

relative to the mid tier junk in the ACC and the bottom feeding G5 -- ND is full of college hall of famers

relative to the first tier of teams that are gatekeepers for national titles -- ND is the ACC mid tier junk

lol @ me having the same conversation with different posters over the last 10-15 years and even with the benefit of hindsight some of those posters are continuing to engage in the same debate making the same points

He might want to go to Michigan without the cash after watching big game BK twerk his way to another embarrassing loss to a bad Florida team!

Yes, that's how i feel when i see competition signing 5 star talent, ponying up 6, 7, 8+ figures to secure the games best talent while ND thinks they are competing with garden variety 3 & 4 star players and 4th year seniors from the G5 & ACC

Florida is the 32nd ranked team in F+ through week 11 and they will now move up after beating the #15 team LSU

Florida would be the 3rd best team ND has played on their schedule this season (for contrast)

Malachi Nelson was the top QB in his class. Probably would have received an offer similar to Underwood.

How’s it working out for him? Couldn’t beat out Miller Moss at USC and now he’s second string at Boise St. If money is going to win games, then how exactly can Michigan and Southern Cal both be 5-5? That's just impossible!

I could provide several other examples but I’m not gonna waste my time.

You just keep using someone else’s evaluation (since you can’t think for yourself), stick to your Glory Days on the Debate Team and leave football to the rest of us.

Yawn.

These schools are making $150M+ /year

$10M for 1-4 seasons is chump change
Which is why I think ND should be aggressive RIGHT NOW in NIL before the market rate for players becomes more efficient and more schools start jumping in ...

NOW is the time to be out in front getting deals on star players whose fair market value is probably at its lowest point than it will ever be going forward.

Why are you responding to yourself again??

Thought you were on a different account?

and supposedly turned it down.

If this is where the sport is going (8+ figure signing bonuses) what is ND doing to keep up?

ND and Freeman seem to have things figured out and heading in the right direction.

I'm confident that ND will react appropriately, while still adhering to the core values that make it ND.

And I'm fine w that.

What is NDs core values these days other than trying to maintain total economic power over their players and regress the sport back to the stone ages?

And of course its looking like ND and Freeman have things figured out when they are playing mediocre ACC & G5 garbage every week.

You just insist on being "this", week in week out.

This team is slightly better than some of those 10th ranked teams BK produced during his last several seasons at ND ... but its only slightly better and still WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY TOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO FARRRRRRRRRRRR AWAAAAAY from being a legitimate contender among the first tier of teams in college football. And NDs latest 2025 class is now down to 14th in the 247 composite only reinforcing their position as a tier 2/3 team going forward.

DEMAND A BETTER PRODUCT

How about SEC Texas am ?

How about them? Does that game count or because it was Notre Dame it does not?
TAMU was a solid win vs a good team. They are definitely a long way from the typical garbage in the ACC but lets not act like they are some needle moving program that is at the top of college football right now either

Do you believe in F+ or not?

Because right now we have 4 top 25 teams on the schedule.

So you can't talk out both sides of your mouth. Do you believe in your ranking system or is it flawed because you say our schedule is shit but F+ says 4 top 25 teams

Which one is it?

It’s whatever fits his narrative.

I’d say that Chase is beyond stupid but that’s just scratching the surface.
