Woke Hire - Thanks for setting the program back another 30 years Jack. Decommits incoming!

Appreciate you sharing these thoughts, but I’m not sure this is even realistic.

What is the point of doing this? What does the University get out of it?

How about an elite football program that can actually win a NC? Fulfilling a social mission with a progressive remedial degree program, reaching out to an academically challenged athletes? Maybe inspire other colleges to do better y football players who will never go NFL?

The original poster made reasonable points.

Nah! God forbid we even think about this. "Get off my Lawn!!! And take your loose connection to ND with you! "

Do you honestly think currently that every single Notre Dame football player has to meet regular academic admissions requirements at the university?

Agree. Notre Dame football players are no different than Oklahoma, Ohio St., or Tennessee football players.

I'm not even talking about a remedial degree. That's what is funny with a couple of the same Tunas on here responding. I'm talking about certain classes created to get the kid up to speed. You make it a condition of enrollment along with summer school.

Why don't you email Father Jenkins and cc the BOT.

Just exactly what color is a leprechaun?
I’d say white. With red hair. After all the myth was invented in Ireland. Pretty sure mythical creatures from Africa are probably black. Doesn’t bother me Wouldn't change it.

I don’t take that offensively. But it amuses my how SOME alumni feign moral and intellectual superiority and exclusivity here.

😀

Most ND grads I know are not like this. They too pine for naked football glory. Frustrated as I am.

At the very least, they recognize the merits of the football brand. And that it won’t be sustained if the team underperforms. Minding of course college football becoming semipro might make it all moot…as there might come a point ND shouldn’t be a part of it.

But they entertain open debate. Unlike some here shutting down non alumni. Claiming alumni are better posters.

"Woke Hire" Meaning, hiring a black coach. This forum is very interesting
The school is woke? Zorich & Rice don't get into ND 2023. Two of the greatest players to ever run onto the field don't get in. I wish admissions would go woke & let the men in that we need. Everyone want to eat hot dogs & sausage but they don't want to see how it's made.

So leprechauns are real......Well, how about Santa and the Tooth Fairy? Or the Easter Bunny...you know, the one that lays eggs every Easter
If by mythical creature you somehow thought I think they're are real then sure.

Don't talk about that. You will be accused of having a very loose relationship with ND.

is Jesus mythical? He is not from Europe but yet depicted as a blond hair blue eyed European which is fine if he’s mythical, so I was being sarcastic in pointing out the hypocrisy of how absurd the logic is that one would use in asserting that a leprechaun can’t be whatever color you choose.

Christianity has it’s roots in Ethiopia so we should probably change those pictures of Jesus floating around most churches and cathedrals based on that logic myth or otherwise

Yep. Jesus was a real guy. And Jewish from Judea. Therefore he should probably have olive skin and brown hair. You are correct. Just like Hamilton was a white guy but somehow played by a black guy in a play. But I will send you a copy of a manuscript for a play I'm writing about MLK. I'm going to have a white actor portray him. I do not care that the ND mascot was a black guy. i'm just citing that more than liekly the mascot was perceived, as seen in most images, as a red haired greyish/whitish skinned little creature.

All the race talk is just that, race talk, but, MF had shown coaching talents that are in high demand, was he a finished product? probably not, there will be bumps in the road as he learns. He who hesitates is lost.

I'm not sure Jesus has ever been depicted with blonde hair? The actor might be British, but he's usually dark-haired.

Then again there was Willem Dafoe. Not someone that you might expect as a natural to portray Jesus, but he carried it off pretty well....

As far as Freeman goes Race is not a consideration in any criticism I have about him. Nor should it be. His non coaching character, etc is pretty impeccable in my book. He has made the same mistake two years in a row. Hired inexperience on the side of the ball where he lacks any while trying to become a Head Coach.
