ND gets nothing from NBC, no season preview, no promotion for the game, nothing. Imagine the hype if ESPN had a deal with ND. They need to dump NBC.

Money ....... End of Story.

Actually ND leaves money on the table to stay with NBC. The reasoning being there is a value to being the sole big fish in a small pond. Compared to the money Texas makes between ESPN and the Longhorn Network, ND pulls in about $10 million per season less.

This again?
Look...no matter who they are playing you will find ND on national tv.

That can't be said of the other teams no matter the following.
Sure you can basically watch any team but it's not always on your main cable or dish. You can always see Notre Dame play without buying that game or buying a series of games with some package. They are always on the national something.

No other major network can provide that.
Nbc is perfect. They have hockey, Sunday night football and Notre Dame football. So ND is not competing with other teams for time slots and the like, no...they are their own thing and can do their own thing .

Could nbc be promoting the game more? I suppose but I don't watch NBC until real football starts. I'm sure they are already promoting it.

I wouldn't be so sure they left money on the table. They just renegotiated the deal. Are you saying you could've done better?

ND also intentionally reserved a bunch of the digital broadcast rights so they could do things like the Showtime series without knowing what they would be worth.

It's hard to believe that this will be ND's 25th season on NBC (we started in 1991).

Sometimes I think we could do better, but I guess the folks in charge feel that this is a decent deal, so why mess with it? And at least they do show some extra programs on NBCSN (like the season preview).
