Why Are You A "College" Football Fan?

I spent four years at ND, so I have an allegiance to my alma mater. What allegiance do I have to millionaires who would play for any team that pays them the most money?

I didn't go to ND, yet I have an allegiance to them. What about any arbitrary hobby of yours that you don't have a major background in? Do you not read books or watch TV shows because you don't have any connection to the writers?

Its obviously your right to like whatever you want, it just seems odds that someone would love ND football but not like the NFL at all. Unless you're not a big football fan and you just like ND football because its Notre Dame.. That makes sense to me.

I'm happy for you. I have zero interest in the NFL. It is a poor imitation of the college game. And I don't watch just 13 games a year. CFB is on all day Saturday and almost every Thursday.

Of course you don't just watch 13 games a year. I'm talking about your favorite football teams. I'm glad I have an NFL team to root for too although ND is easily #1. I think it would suck if my pro team folded and I only had ND.

Please answer me this: how is the NFL a poor imitation of college?

The traditions of CFB don't exist in the pros. No college team is ever going to relocate from one state to another. No pro team has alums returning to the dorms where they lived in their youth. No pro team runs the triple option. No pro team has alums which sing the alma mater while the marching band plays.
I could go on and on.

I agree with all that. I'm just curious as to how the NFL is a poor imitation of college. Unless you were talking about everything outside of the actual field of play....then I understand.

If you don't get what I am saying, you don't get what I am saying. That's cool.

Haha. Maybe you should be more clear. If you're talking about the NFL vs NCAA experience as a whole, I get you and agree with you. If you're talking about the actual gameplay, I was hoping you would expound on that. Can you do that?

I sort of just forget the NFL is playing on Sunday. My daughter, however, is a huge Patriots fan and will turn on the game when they play on tv. I actually find it somewhat interesting to watch a game when I am in no way emotionally involved and could care less who wins.

Seeing that I have not watched an NFL game in approximately 30 years, nope.

I am a Notre Dame fan because growing up in Alaska it was the only game we would get each weekend via Westward One and were shown on TV the most.

My father was friends with George Allen so half my family are Rams fans the other Redskins. I am also a Jaguar season ticket holder because we got a great deal on season tickets when I lived in J'ville, but the collective bargaining agreement/free agency ruined it for me, and watched it with little interest most of the time. Infact Sunday morning getting ready for church I would replay the ND game from the day before with more excitement.

It's ok. Embrace your gayness. There is nothing wrong with it.

Nah, you're the one who has the sexual insecurity problems. After all, you brought up the issue of "real men." Nice attempt at projecting it onto someone else though. As a Christmas gift to yourself, I suggest you get therapy.

Morons get ignored. Bye bye.

I'm a high school and college football fan because that's what I enjoy the most. The NFL is just way too stodgy for my. Give me some games with some reverses and screen passes and I'm in football heaven. I love the color of the college game and I too watch noon to midnight on most Saturdays.
