Good for CBSThe basics:
“Geftman-Gold also wrote: “If they wouldn’t do anything when children were murdered I have no hope that Repugs will ever do the right thing. I’m actually not even sympathetic bc country music fans often are Republican gun toters.”
The comments were deleted but not before they were picked up on a number of right-wing blogs and websites. A petition was posted online that called for her firing.
A CBS spokesperson confirmed that Geftman-Gold was dismissed because of her comments.

premise is all wrong, just because repugs won't consider gun regulations when some liberal elite kids are gunned down doesn't mean they will ignore a country music massacre, but the conclusion is very likely correct, nothing will come of this
That’s likely a bipartisan bill that will be very narrow and specific that will pass quickly.Aside from Banning bump sticks(which I support) what regulations do you recommend?

ESPN would have given her a promotion and her own parking private parking spot.
If the Dems insist on a national gun registration, as they have in every previously attempted bill, nothing is likely to happen. Take that out and I think you could get enough Reps to join the Dems and do something that would be seen as positive by the majority of Americans. That’s likely a bipartisan bill that will be very narrow and specific that will pass quickly.

Plenty of gun laws on the books. Just enforce them.
Or how about a trade. The pro choice side doesn't want even the slightest reduction in abortion rights, because they see that as the first step in the incremental movement to banning abortion. The pro gun, or NRA, side doesn't want to see anything but fully automatic weapons banned, because they see that as the first step in the incremental movement to banning all guns. So make a trade. Ban late term, third trimester, abortions with mother's health exceptions, ban all weapons that would reasonably qualify as "assault" weapons. My guess is that the general public would sign up for that in overwhelming numbers, but politicians might be another story. The lefty loons had 8 years under lawless Obama to get this done and like everything else about him did nothing. Plenty of gun laws on the books. Just enforce them.

So you think Paddock could have killed 58 and injured 489 with a baseball bat?A tragedy...
but what are you planning on doing to eliminate such a tragedy?
Is it possible that this is a tragedy? And just a tragedy?
Why does it always have to be something else.
Budweiser, louisville slugger (clubs), motor cars, tobacco, fast food, knives
All kill at an insane rate.
Last I checked there will be how many alcohol and vehicle commercials on the next Notre Dame game? Several.
There are almost 33,000 deaths every year in the US traffic related. 10,000 + are from drinking and driving.
Yet nobody wants to ban alcohol and the auto industry yet they account for thousands of lives lost every year.
I don't want to get into a pissing contest over something so tragic but at what point and what is the answer. You are not going to take away the 2nd amendmant.
So what's the answer?
It was a horrible thing. Yes. Very much so and words don't do it any justice.
Until you figure out a way to make humans robots something will happen. Some way and some how. Whether it's explosives, or gun, or a hi jacked bus. If someone wants to destruct they will find a way, sadly.
You will never stop this until someone can make the world sunshine and rainbows and given the fact that your 100 bill will not get half the goods and services it did 20 years ago I would say it's pretty safe to assume people will continue to be sour on just that alone.
It's a shitty deal for sure but chasing your tail on ban this and outlaw that are not the answer.
The lefty loons had 8 years under lawless Obama to get this done and like everything else about him did nothing. Plenty of gun laws on the books. Just enforce them.
It's okay, we get it. You resent the fact that a nig---, no matter how smart or reasonable he was, was easily elected president, not once but twice.
So let's be honest here. There are numerous examples how more gun regulations or banning weapons is a bad idea. The murder rate in Chicago and D.C. For example has went up since hand guns were banned. Just a fact
Where there has been a open carry law murder rates have went down. Just another fact. But do I understand legitimate concerns abosolulty I am a proud gun owner and a NRA member. I think a big problem and Big disconnect is that if you take guns away the problem goes away. That is not a fact because bad people will find another means it's just the way it is.
If Paddock didn't have a assault style weapons it would be as bad. Well if you truly understand weapons and ballistics. That is not correct either. If he would have chosen a 12 gauge shell with double ot buck shot (for all the none gun people which there is nothing wrong with that. Imagine one shell shoots 10 civil war musket balls at you multiple that by 25 round drum and you can do the math.
You see just because a gun looks like a war time weapon doesn't mean it's a deadly as something very basic.
I am all for coming to a common ground but there has to be some realistic discussion without politics and people that frankly don't know shit about guns. But people are scared and as gun owners we need to educate. Anyone can be afraid of something they don't understand just because it looks like something else. It's human nature
Because if you ban assault weapons guess what gun dose t fall under that a freaking 50 cal. We are talking about something that shoots through engine blocks with ease and sniper use it for over 1 mile shots. Just FYI France the most anti gun country in the world had more deaths in one year than Obama had his last term.
No obama fan here but the facts are the facts
There is responsibility on both sides but one thing is for sure our second amendment is not going anywhere. When you can't defend yourself or your family from government or just bad people. You instantly go from a citizen to a servant
2/3 of gun deaths in the US are suicides. Can we assume those people would have used another method if a gun had not been available? No gun regulation will really work because we have no concrete data about any correlation about violence and how guns are involved.
I think the first step is to allow the CDC to do studies on gun violence. If we can get evidence to see what the causes and signs that need to be observed, then effective regulations can be put into place. Until then, it will just be emotional responses on all fronts.

I don't think so. I found this Harvard study: uphttps://www.hsph.harvard.edu/means-matter/means-matter/case-fatality/. Even if people used other methods, their success rate goes down drastically. They may try, but more would fail. I think the lethality is definitely makes the gun the most popular method.
If I was in a state of Mmnd where I just wanted to end my life I would use my handgun instead of hanging myself eating poisoned, sitting in the car inhaling exhaust, or any other form.
That being said here is are some articles:

The problem is data could be skewed to the what ever point the data center is making. A well rounded collection of data could be very useful. Not just the CDC
Well here is my issue with the CDC.
1. I'm sure you and I are somewhat in the same age group but from when we were kids we had something like 10 vaccines now since I believe 1992 that no medical manufacturers could be held accountable for injuries to patients our children now receive something like 62 vaccines by the time they are 8yrs old. And 3 of the main comments of a vaccine are Aluminum, Mercury and aborted fetal cells.
2. The major vaccine companies Merek and GSK make 30 billion a year in vaccines and they have had corp employees seat on the board of the CDC and have a vote.
3. Some of the past heads of the CDC now sit on pharmaceutical companies boards
4. Yes I'm in the medical field and I understand corruption when it comes to medicine more than the average joe and even some surgeons. Which is sad because their response is the well the CDC says so. And they are scared to say anything because they are held to BS and malpractice. Some of our smartest people in the world can't even say anything because they are scared of what could happen to their career.
5. The last thing we need is the CDC involved in any study because the level of corruption in that entity is absolutely ridiculous.

The CDC is primarily comprised of scientists, I think mostly toxicologists and virologists. As long as the data was available, I think you'd be better off with someone like McKinsey or Bain doing the study you suggest.I'm not shocked that the CDC has an element of corruption to it, and former CDC heads having cushy jobs at pharma companies isn't a shock either. I just find it curious that Congress prevents them from studying gun violence. My point is that we need data. I personally don't care who compiles it, but it needs to be done to make rational decisions.
