He had deer in the headlights syndrome again and the FSU coach said enough.
No, Jimbo actually gave Golson another starting shot after the back to back losses to GT and Clemson. But he turned the ball over on three of five drives against NC State..
The story is he stinks. I was one of the few on here that celebrated his departure. I also said he would get benched at FSU at some point. Jimbo picked Maguire over him, plain and simple.
He would have. And it would probably have been a mistake. Kizer has been pretty good. Not sure Golson would be as effective.
Read a recent article saying the Golson nearly went to Florida and that both he and Florida State might have been better off if had. I don't know that's true, but Golson had plenty of options for a shot a starting. I don't know any were better than the opportunity that he had at ND, but it was his choice to make. I'm good with Kizer.
It has been the same story since 2012. When asked to throw high percentage passes, hand off the football, make an occasional play with his legs and IF your team had a top flight defense. Golson could win football games. But so could 50 other QB's under those circumstances.

There was a game in between the two losses. Golson had a concussion against GT and so he sat out the Syracuse game. Maguire played very well and got the start against Clemson. Played poorly against them and Golson got the start against NC St. Had the three turnovers and was benched. Maguire then came in and played pretty well. In our game this past Saturday, it appears Golson is now 3rd string.
My bad. I was really just trying to make the point - nicely - that Fisher gave Golson a second chance and he blew it.
