What happened to our talent at WR

Where is Sanders, Claypool, Boykin, Mckinkey (sp?)? With the game on the line, Wimbush (who looked lost all night) was looking for Smith, Canteen, and Finke. I am at a loss for words. You mean to tell me that two transfers and a walk on are the best options in what is supposed to be a talent rich WR core......lmfao. Go ahead, defend the coaches, and better yet, tell me I know nothing:) I am beginning to wish I did not know anything because this is a complete comedy. Dump pass after dump pass on third and five......three runs and another punt with the game on the line! Did we attempt to stretch the D other than that throw to Freddie "sure hands" Canteen (who the hell is he)? Elko is the only bright spot now. He is doing good with a defense lacking star power .IT IS TIME to replace the real issue here, and NOW! I am an ND fan for life, but come on man, next coaching staff in....and start looking further at the whole AD.

Don't worry I'm sure Kelly and company will recruit and bring in another 12 wide receivers in this class who will all do nothing. Relax. It's the norm for this staff.

A first year QB is part of the problem. Time will cure this part.

I want to disagree but I can't. We should not being playing 5th year transfer seniors over our younger talent. I like Fink even tho he had a huge drop. He's safe on punt returns, but after St. Brown we had no game changers on the field and even tho Adams is a bull you're not running against a stacked box.

A good defensive rush and an inability to consistently catch the ball - that's what happened to our talented receivers.

Are we all missing something? Who is going to step in and say "the coaches know best." I am beginning to think that maybe the coaches are getting too much respect. TIME to replace the staff...and beyond. Recruiting is good enough. Notre Dame losing eight games last year should have been plenty to look elsewhere. Sure, Ohio State lost tonight too, but we lost more last year than they have the past ten.

Plenty of good players here.

Bullshyat...excuse after excuse for too long. Plenty of first year Qb's have beaten us (again tonight). We had an NFL caliber qb last year and win four games......four games.
Ga controlled the line of scrimmage, and made NDs offense one dimensional.. w/o the running game, and a first-year quarterback, you will have a hard time
If Notre Dame would have took away George's running game the outcome would have been different that is the difference.

Been saying from day one that KS is the best receiver on this team. By now if he is not doing the "right " things why is on the team? This is the greatest mystery of all. Claypool ? where is he ? This new WR coach has lots of explaining to do .

Why does he have to lighten up? It's the truth. If it wasn't for St. Brown out there, ND's passing game would be almost non-existent. He's the only one who consistently makes plays in the passing game as a wideout.
Because he is freaking out. Take a chill pill.

If the QB cannot get them the ball it makes no difference who they are, how big or how fast they are. Young, inexperienced and out of rythem thrower obviates any WR.

I guess I did freak out a little, but Claypool and Sanders seemed to excite everyone with their play LAST season. Then we hear about these other newcomers impressing in practice and how our receiving core is as good as any in the country. Last night, I saw two tranfers and a walk on dominating the reps. I was just so disappointed after waiting to see that dominant offense I read and hear so much about. Perhaps those young receivers are not as advertised and WR is in fact a weakness on this team. I watched the game just as many of you, and even though Wimbush looked uncomfortable all game, St. Brown was taken out of the game early by a good DF game plan and no one else could get separation and step up. Look, I was not thinking NC, but I cant help but be concerned about the future of WR if we have to play those three in crunch time. On the bright side, our DF is clearly improved, and that alone will help us win 8 games this season (still below expectations given our talent level compared to our opponents).

All that WR talent gets moved aside by 5th year transfers/discards from other teams and a previously NR walkon. What are we not getting?

I'm sure coach wannabees pennis44 and echo boy will tell you that you are stupid because the coaches see them everyday in practice and you don't. They know everything....NOT. I was at the game last night and the WR's stunk up the joint. By the way where in the hell was Dexter Williams??

Why does it matter if you were at the game? You see less "at the game". I was there too, and had fantastic seats. Watched the tv replay this AM, and saw way more details.

Whatever, you are blind as a fricking bat. What game did you watch? You are some kind of stupid if you saw something different. So the receivers were good? The OL was good? Winbush was good? Dexter Williams had more than Zero opportunities?

You sound pretty angry. Calling names? Relax- you're on an internet football chat board. Act like a man.
What did I say that wasn't true? And you are right I was fricking pissed last night and still am today after watching that joke we witnessed last night

"Where is Sanders, Claypool, Boykin, Mckinkey ? Based on what are these premium receivers? The idea that we are "loaded" with very good receivers is a myth. They have a tough time getting separation and drop to many balls.
Being tall and/or fast does not mean you are a very good receiver.

They had offers from top 25 schools. They're all 4* guys. The expectation is that they produce. These guys should be killing each other, battling for playing time.

You're not getting the fact that our positional coaches might be the worst in the nation. That is absolutely a BK staple and 180 degrees opposite with Saban. Saban has the best in the business on his staff. It's the little things of detail that those teams preach and plead over and over that make upper elite seem so far away from where we are at present. Add in great talent and this is the college landscape of today.

We have good material but can't coach them individually worth a damn.

Why do the transfer play? Bevayse they are so far advanced thanks to other coaches that we have to play them over our revered recruits. Ain't that about a b.t.h

All very good points. It may be that is all traceable back to the post season of 2012. Since the events of that post season and then the subsequent blowout in the Championship game Kelly has had to replace departing or fired staff members with the best available coaches, never able to recruit 'the best'.
The best want to work for and be counted among the best. It is obvious that Kelly is not perceived to be counted among the best by his peers or those younger coaches on the rise.

You mean the staff that JUST got hired??? I think ND hired like 6 new assistants this past year -- I think Elko has proven his worth, same with the S&C guys....

Feddy canteen, Joe sixpack, Chris Finke, and Joe the plumber are not talented receivers.

I told you we needed stepherson.

It also takes a QB to get him the ball, and an O-Line that will protect -- NEITHER of which were in ND stadium Saturday night.

Our passing game should be much better. Despite the conflict between talent and process, currently our most gifted receiver is Kevin Stepherson. Unfortunately he is on some suspension that is more secret than the authentic nuclear codes (which I am confident the Pentagon is keeping secret from Trump). That makes his suspension hard to judge; I just hope it ends soon and the coaching staff realizes we need the upgrade in talent he could bring.

I don't attend practices so I don't know what is keeping Javon McKinley off the field, but I have always felt he is very athletic and could be a contributor.

A few Blue/Gold games ago Nic Weishar made an excellent catch on a tough throw. I felt like I was the only one who saw it as no one commented on it and his hands have since been overlooked. He has already shown this year he can make tough catches in traffic; I don't know why he is not more of our offense. Alize Mack may be able to get more separation than Weishar but that doesn't do us any good if he drops half the passes thrown to him.
