The only speculation are with some fans on message boards who have zero ability to hire and fire a Notre Dame football coach.
Indiana just beat MSU and the IU fans are rushing the field. Now, I want to throw the IU HC, Kevin Wilson, into the mix of names of guys who will never be the HC at ND.
I'm fine with Brian Kelly as the head coach heading into next year... Now go get Charlie Strong as your DC. He'll be fired at Texas and although he hasn't been a great head coach, he's one hell of a recruiter and fine defensive coordinator that will work some toughness into this group of defenders.
Charlie knows ND well, would recruit the hell out of Florida along with Denson, and would likely stick around for a few years as he's not likely going to get another HC job anytime soon. Would love to see this group of defensive coaches in 2016...

Defensive Backs: Todd Lyght
Note: Move Mike Elston to special teams full time, as well as keeping him as the recruiting coordinator. Give him a raise to assume both positions and this defense will improve.

Charlie Strong will get fired? How can that be? When the Swoopes scored the game winning TD against ND, the ABC booth guy (Joe Tessitore) loudly proclaimed that Texas was back.There must be some kind of mistake. Seriously though, a qualified DC who has actually achieved will be just what the doctor ordered for this ailing Irish team.
If Strong is fired then I will look down upon Texas. He was not given the proper time to succeed. He inherited a mess and he has cleaned house and brought in good recruits. Next year they will be stronger. He has a freshman QB and a young defense. They have improved greatly from last year. They play in a tough conference.
Texas has played 3 power 5 teams(ND, Cal, and OSU) and has allowed at least 47 points in those games. I think I'll pass on Charlie Strong as DC. ND needs a young, hot, up and coming coach who is hungry to prove himself as an elite defensive coordinator.
Joe Tessitore is a buffoon. One of the worst in the business.
Is there a realistic chance that Charlie Strong would settle for being DC at ND after being HC at Texas?
His next HC job would be in conference USA. the choice between playing Idaho State in the idaho potato bowl and playing for notre dame may influence him
