Young commits to ND.

But read his comments on why he chose ND over Oregon. Pretty bad for Oregon if what he says is true.

Among the best "3 stars" I've ever seen on film... Really Young sticks to his commitment because he's everything you could want in a slot receiver. He's about 5'10, 185lbs but he blocks like he's 6'2, 220lbs. He's not a burner, but he never seems to struggle to run by anybody. He's got a toughness to him that is tough to adequately describe. Theo Riddick's attitude, with Michael Floyd's willingness as a blocker (lacking Floyd's elite size, obviously) is the best I can muster.

For those who haven't seen his highlights. Check em out below and tell me you don't want him on your team. Like IIO said, he isn't a burner, but that isn't a huge need for the slot WR position. You want a guy who is cat quick and can make the tough catches over the middle. Young fits that mold, as he certainly isn't afraid to get physical.

My only possible disappointment with him committing is that there may not end up being enough room for Tarik Black and Orsis St. Brown, as ND is in good position for those 2 and I really want ND to get both of them.

Taking both OSB and Black (or Holloman) won't be a problem. Plenty of spots left. Staff will take as many as 25-26 if the right guys want to come... Between medicals, transfers, guys who don't qualify and guys who leave early for the draft, ND will hit their numbers. They always do.

yeah i saw somewhere that someone asked Loy on twitter about 4 WRs ND was recruiting and he said he expected ND to get 3 of them. The consensus was that it would be Young, Black & OSB. Probably cause we could flip Pouncey to D if need be in the future.

Did anyone read the article? I've never heard a recruit be so honest, especially about admitting Oregon players told him they weren't happy there.
I wonder if Mark Helfrich is calling some players tonight? Lol

haven't seen his film yet but people everywhere seem to agree that not having great top end speed seems to be the only reason why he's a three star kid with a not so great offers list. i'll have to watch his film with so many people raving about his blocking and route running. I wonder if his home state LSU tigers ever offer and if it changes things or was he set on leaving the state no matter what

Maybe it will be like the Jerry Tillery Commitment. Perse was bad mouthing Tillery for visiting LSU about every weekend.

One of the best things you could do for yourself is add him to your ignore list. Why anyone would choose to subject themselves to that stupidity is beyond me. A Gilligan's Island marathon is more intellectually stimulating than that clown's seemingly endless barrage of posts.

3-stars ? Well, the offense usually performs . But I' m looking at the defensive side of the ball . We still need to get some game changers .

Whoever calls the plays needs to keep the pressure ,seems we Yale foot off the pedal.

Reality check .Many 3- 4 star players become big time stars in college . At Notre Dame , T.Eifert, G.Tate ,T.Riidick ,C.Watt , Z.Martin,N. Martin ,H. Smith ,W.Fuller, Prosise,Day,and I think R. Stanley were only 3-4 high school players ,but yet some became big time players in the pros. Fuller, N. Martin, R. Stanley , Russell, Day ,Prosise may also be become top notch pros. Did not include Te'o or J. Smith because they were 5s in high school.. Did I miss anybody in last 5 years?

Some players really develop in their 3 or 4 years in college . Kelly does a great job in getting players ready .

In the above posts ,most of the ND players drafted to the NFL and are very successful, were on the offensive side of the ball .Te'o ,Tuitt. ,H. Smith . are doing great on D , but we still need to get some game changers on defense .

Proud to have him at ND. Sounds like a great young man.

another example of why you can't always trust recruiting rankings. TOS plummeted Brock Wright's stock in their updated rankings as "punishment" for choosing to opt out of the summer camp circuit (which drives their business) and instead focus on getting ready for his senior season and to enroll early at ND... Lol at the idea that Wright has somehow dropped from the top TE in the country to the middle of the top 10.

The kid is a beast and will play as a freshman ..

there is a certain rotteness in your bones! and those that get in line with you. A truly rot the bones nature that is deep within you. You sow discontent even in a what is supposed to be an upbeat thread.
You are despicable.

Quo profito? as the Jesuits used to say! Or as said now Follow the money!

I don't usually watch the highlights since that is what they are - highlights. Plus you don't know about the competition. So, after watching this one, I have to agree that he does not have the top end speed. Half of the highlights were from bad defending. He did make some crazy (questionable) field reversals which he won't be able to do without the top end speed. He did make some great cuts and blocks. My only question is will he be able to do this when playing against top end D1 teams versus HS.

I see th 40 time but he seems to always blow by people. Maybe he has the right kind of "football speed".

I don't put a lot of stock into my ability to watch film and assess strengths and weakness that separate four stars from three stars, etc... As so much depends on the quality size and speed of the opposition. That said, While Young may not have clocked elite speed, it seems to me the kid has elite acceleration in and out of moves that will leave would be tacklers grabbing air and breaking ankles to use a BB metaphor. Excellent slot recruit.
