By the time the Indiana Fever made up a six-point deficit in the final 90 seconds of regulation and throughout the ensuing overtime, Sonia Citron was an observer.

As were the rest of the Washington Mystics’ starting five.

But in her 22 minutes of court time, the former Notre Dame women’s basketball standout looked every bit like a player worth spending the No. 3 overall pick on in the WNBA Draft last month.

The 6-1 guard filled the stat sheet and played impressive defense on Saturday in the Mystics’ 79-74 overtime loss in Indianapolis in the exhibition opener for both teams. Fever star Caitlin Clark did not play in the game, but former ND center Brianna Turner came off the bench for Indiana.

Turner played 14 scoreless minutes, but had four rebounds and two assists.

Citron, meanwhile, contributed 15 points, four rebounds, two assists, a steal and a blocked shot. She was 5-of-6 from the field, including 2-of-3 from the 3-point arc. And she made all three of her free throw attempts.

The Mystics next play Wednesday at home against Atlanta in their second and final exhibition game before opening the season at home against that same Atlanta Dream team on May 16.

INDIANA 79, WASHINGTON 74: Box Score
