Special teams were pretty good today

This defense is flat out weird. They play well 90% of the game but create no takeaways and give up big plays seemingly out of nowhere. Yet in 2022 college football if you are only giving up 21 points or less Per Game, you will be in position to win every game.

And the ND defense has positioned the ND team to win every game on the schedule.

There is zero anyone on this forum can do about it.. Freeman is ND's coach for at minimum the next 3 years. Complaining about it is not going to change it. All we can do is be supportive and hope they figure it out.

I disagree, I think he has the talent and Hartline is one of the best WR coaches in all of CFB and the NFL. I think he could supplant Fleming as their #3 target.

How quickly you forget … Kelly cafe served quite a few turd burgers as well … so let’s decide what level of not good enough tastes worse? Losing at home to the Tulsa’s and USFs, plying yourself into contention vs a weak schedule only to get completely embarrassed at Miami or Michigan or a last minute collapse xx Stanford, or, wait for it, making the chamoionship game and falling behind 35-0 or scoring 3 points in the playoff game (3!) … yeah sorry they all taste terrible.

Sorry to burst your bubble, but I was for ND hiring Fickell, who beat Kelly last season pretty convincingly with LESS talent.
When they hired Freemam there was nothing I could do but be supportive of the hire. So before you make any accusations I suggest you go back and reread my posts from December 2021.

I guess you were supportive in Kelly's 7th season at ND, with a roster 100% Kelly recruited going 4-8. YEAR 7!!! YEAR 7!!!

I’m not 100% sold this is a Rees thing. I would agree If these are 50/50 balls and DP is missing them. They dude has been less than 50% in two games. He almost hit a wide open UNLV guy in the first few series going to MM 5 yards away.

He has had drops, all QB’s do. He also was bailed out twice by MM on bad passes.

Im guessing here, but am pretty certain we are 6-1 with Coan. DP played amazing at UNC and BYU. If he can find that guy again, we are ok. You have to be over 60%. Under 50% you cannot sustain drives.

Our red zone O and D is Aweful. Those have to be fixed. Every team just runs around the end on us. When we try that it’s a loss.

There are some huge coaching issues on this team starting with MF. But DP is our number one issue the last 2 games to get fixed.

This is more than a case of a loser coach, it’s dismantling an era, wrecking a culture, showing no presence on the sideline, having no in game management, not getting a transfer QB, not holding asst coaches accountable. He’s the worst coach I’ve ever seen at any level. He’s NOT rebuilding.

his best season was last year, 2 losses and 7th final ranking. Previous 3 years he was 23-14 …whole lot of seasons with 3+ losses

I think we’re at a different time in society now with different black coaches who have been hired throughout the NCAA/NFL, etc., so I don’t think we’d get the same treatment if we let go of Freeman after next season if things go badly. Even as disappointing as this season has been, and I’m not overly optimistic about Freeman and the future, there’s no way he gets let go any time before his second season and not even then unless it’s just egregiously bad.
