Don Criqui spent much of the first half calling today's opponent Temple. You know that DJ who cranks out the extremely loud "music" during pre-game? Well, he kept on saying over the loudspeakers that this game was going to be an easy win for ND and he wouldn't stop saying it. Not good. Being a DJ hipster hired by the university for the enjoyment of the student body is one thing. Disrespecting the opponent right in front of their players and their fans is in another league.

That DJ was me !! I told you it was going to be an easy win !!

I know he's an alum but criqui has been awful for quite some time.

Years ago, when he was on NBC telecasts, he was fine. He is just not a radio play by play man. To think they canned Tony Roberts for Criqui makes me weep.

What's interesting is that it appears no one in the booth even bothered to tell Criqui that ND is playing UMass and not Temple. I hate to think what will happen in the radio booth when the Irish actually play Temple. On the 91 yard homerun ball by CJ last week, if you had no visual of the play and were relying strictly on the radio broadcast, a fan would have no idea what was happening because Criqui's description of the play was confusing at best. With Criqui you may get a great call or a very bad one. HIs call on the UCLA BQ to Jeff S TD pass was excellent. That was the good. His call on CJ's TD run was the bad. Here would have been Tony Roberts call on the TD from last week. "The give is to Prosise....... 15....20.....25.....30.....breaks into the clear..........race to the goal line.......... .....they may not get him.......touchdown Notre Dame!"

Tony Roberts was as bad asCriqui the last few years he was on the air.

I refuse to listen to Criqui. Half the time i listen I either have no idea what is going on or it seems like he isnt excited about anything ND. I was driving listening when Wimbush scored and hear was close to word for word the call, "and wimbush takes it on the keep.........and he breaks loose...goodbye Brandon Wimbush"...............................after a long time he finally mentioned that it was a TD. Its true, he is a tv announcer doing radio. There are times when it sounds like a minor play and you find out it was a 20 yd game.

I had to drive home to NJ from RI during UMASS game. Criqui was brutal. Referred to UMASS as Temple or The Owls no less than 10 times (I counted) in the First half alone. Alan Pinkett is sitting next to him. How the hell can he keep saying Temple. He would go five minutes saying UMASS then switch back to Temple.
Like Irish Jack said. No down and distance. Where the ball was, who called a TO, who made the tackle. He was horrible. It was like a contest winner got to do the play by play for a day.
Tony Roberts on his worst day was not as bad as Criqui was on Saturday.
It was great to get home after a four hour ride to watch the tape and see Tom Hammond was sitting in for Hicks. Ugh!
