Two things I don't want to see in ND's first offensive possession: 1. Taking a timeout before the first snap. 2. A down the field fade pass to the sideline on the first play.

yep; that backwards pass, made infamous by TR, has to be drleted from the playbook!

other things to avoid: running the play clock down to 1 sec before the snap changing the offensive play call while trying to figure out what the defense is giving you, then losing 2 yrds on a lame hand-off up the middle.

and turnovers

well, that one is still in the playbook; sorry!

each call is put before the committee, the committee will then send the play recommendation to Kelly; kelly will then either send the play back to 'committee' or communicate the play the the Red Cap to signal the QB.

If the play is successful, Kelly will be a genius; if not then the committee is at fault.

The corporate design - SOP in America.

I'm hoping, fingers crossed, that w/ Zaire maybe BK will scale back the playbook and make it simpler while having a faster tempo. We'll see

We need an identity. Kelly should tell is OL, "listen guys, we are going to run the ball down their throats. This is how we are going to start the game, and end the game. We will take our shots down the field but we are going to foremost, run it and run it again, wear them out all day long. No fancy stuff. I don't care if they know what is coming. It is smash mouth football. Smash em in the mouth".

First play, option with Zaire. Hand it off or run based on the read. 2nd down, same thing. If we are 3rd and a yard, same thing. Get this team to understand that we will not back down from anyone...no matter how highly ranked their defense is. They have to prove they can stop this before we go slinging the ball around.
