Who are your top 10?

Here's one ranking: http://www.saturdaydownsouth.com/sec-football/counting-top-15-college-coaches-ranking-nos-1-5/

For those too lazy to click the link:

1. Nick Saban
2. Urban Meyer
3. Gary Patterson
4. Bill Snyder
5. Mark Dantonio
6. Art Briles
7. Jim Harbaugh
8. Dabo Swinney
9. David Cutcliffe
0. Brian Kelly

I would put Brian Kelly in the top 10, but I admit to my bias.

I thought you'd enjoy the CBS sports ranking and summary of kellly. They had kelly at #13 and described him with,

"13. Brian Kelly, Notre Dame: If ranking coaches who turn the purplest on the sidelines, Kelly would be a clear winner."

Athlon had him at 15

A Fox reporter didn't have him in the top 25...

First list just weird. Not only was Shaw left off, Stoops is 18-7 against Snyder, Patterson and Briles.

First list is a joke. With Snyder, you might as well put Rockne in there. Neither will win a big game in the next 100 years

Mr. Khaki Pants doesnt belong anywhere near the top ten. He couldnt win the Pac 12 and will never win the Little ten either.

Bo was a living legend at Michigan {lots of lead in the water} - he didn't even sniff a National Championship - that's why the loser kept saying they play for the Big Championship.

One might opine that Stoops has incrementally more to work with than those three guys have.

sure Stoops has more to work with. What about Saban and Meyer? At least half the battle seems to be recruiting. Saban and Meyer the best most years. Stoops usually in the 10-15 ranking but doing pretty well. True that Snyder, Patterson and Briles all usually have less to work with (Briles less so the last few years).

Good list Id put Kelly at 8 on this list. Glad to not see Richt, Miles, or Shaw as I think they dont belong.

Not sure just what the criteria for "best coach" is in these different polls but if you are looking over the past 5 or 6 years it sure as hell isn't wins and losses.

The coaches with the most wins list would read quite differently. Jus sayin'.

Doesn´t it seem strange to list who´s the best coaches without considering which coaches have won the most games recently?

¨Winning isn´t everything, it´s the only thing.¨ and

¨Show me a good loser and I´ll show you a loser¨ Vince Lombardi

The World Champion Super Bowl winners are given the Vince Lombardi trophy for a reason.

That is what makes this kind of list so difficult. On the one hand you can argue Snyder does more with less. On the other, he is the king of Jucos. Saban wins the most. But then the Tide pulls in better talent than anyone else and he should be winning a lot.

I would have to say that Snyder, who does a great job with little talent and Shaw who does a great job with real student athletes certainly belong in the top 10. I would remove Dabo and Briles as they have feared upon weak competition.

No kidding Shaw is a top 5 coach without a doubt and one could make an easy argument he's top 3.
