Check out 3/4 star Tony Pride Jr's track times!! and he has good size (length) ! This guy has Ronald Darby like speed but with more size and brains !!

Let's hope he can translate that track speed into football speed.
Don't see where this will be an issue. Pride has shown excellent closing speed and good ball hawking skills, and that's what had a lot of us excited by his commitment. These times suggest an increidble upside. Not like a track star trying to be a football player; more like a football player showing track star talent.

Love Pride as either a field corner that can run and move in space and play a little bit of nickel inside as well. Good size out there as well. About the same size as Kei Russell in terms of height. Skinny right now, but should be at 185-190lbs down the road.

A future secondary consisting of this group would be awesome... With Jalen Elliot and Donte Vaugn in rotation as well!

BC: Nick Watkins (5th year)
FS: Devin Studstill (JR)
SS: Drue Tranquil (5th year)
NB: Shaun Crawford (SR)
FC: Troy Pride (JR)

That is potentially as talented a secondary as we have had since 93

I hope Crawford stays healthy

And Drue. He's looked amazing at times and just pray he plays a full year. Is this really his last year of eligibility?

No, this is his Junior season at ND. He was injured his freshman and sophomore seasons. Since he missed nearly all of last year he should be eligible for a fifth year. I hope he stays healthy too. The young man has a ton of talent. No doubt he would be a major contributor this season.

Ara,

I don't believe that Tranquil is an elite athlete in the way that Jaylon Smith, Asmar Bilal or Mike McGlinchey are elite athletes relative to natural athleticism compared to others at their various positions. What Drew does possess, however, is something equally important and equally hard to teach. He's cerebral the way Joe Schmidt was and diagnoses plays well, and knows how to get others lined up. He's shown good instincts in limited action and above all else, he brings that toughness / intimidation factor to the defense like Zibi did. Like Drue, Tom lacked elite athleticism, but was athletic enough that when combined with a lot of toughness and character, you got an awesome overall football player. If we had 4 Drue Tranquil's in the secondary, it would be an air raid with guys running by the defense all day. You don't want 4 guys like that, the same way you wouldn't have wanted 4 John Lynch's or 4 Troy Polumalu's... Those guys were wonderful players and played major roles in championship teams, but they they served a roll... Drue (if healthy) can have a huge impact for Notre Dame, but it won't be as an elite athlete. Instead, it will be as a leader, who brings toughness and intimidation to the defense and as a motivator who moves the chess pieces around and allows the defense flexibility and helps get all the pieces set.
