Tommy Failure needs to be fired NOW!

You don’t have a clue when it comes to contracts and changing coaches midseason !.

Your memory also seems to be failing, as ND scored more than 30 points in 10 of their games last year, including 35 against the 6th ranked team in the nation
QB play…..

So who, specifically, are you recommending as his replacement
I have a specific day job that specifically leave no time for researching football all day.

Yes and no. Rees was retained by Jack prior to naming Freeman HC, thus tying Rees to Freeman. Freeman had zero choice in bringing in his own OC and QB coach. Jack handicapped Freeman, and it's clear Rees is not a good OC. Can he be? Yes, but he needs to be exposed to other environments.
Really?
This worked under CBK last season. A difference is that Buchner is a major liability. The OL and receivers leave a lot to be desired, but I still think the prep and game planning could have taken into account the former and improved the latter. ND should not be this bad...and, sorry to say, this falls on Freeman,
I wouldn't go that far. I would say that Book was a major asset, especially when he needed to dart forward for 6 yards.

You can’t demand the firing of the OC and not be able to name his possible replacements !

That’s irresponsible bordering on reckless.

And you can’t claim that you’re to busy.

If you deem that the OC is a significant problem and you want him fired, you have to propose a viable solution, otherwise you‘ll be considered a know nothing, a chronic complainer, an empty suit who has nothing constructive to contribute.

And, just a few games into the season, who would be available ?

This is too dumb to merit a response but I am going to address the principal bad thinking.

If you go to a bad doctor, I will warn you that he is risky. And I don't have to have a repertoire of medical professionals to tell you that.

And I said I like how Chad Norvel's teams play offense, and I wanted him to come to ND. So we should go into his network and find someone to implement his offense.

Tommy like Tyler is in way over his head. I do feel bad for Tyler, he needed coaching support and further development; same as Rees!

Can't defend Tommy. His play calling has been very bad for two games and he is showing a stubburness to keep to his plan that is tragically stupid.

The fact is firing Tommy midseason means gerard parker is going to take over playcalling and you lose a good recruiter for the rest of the year....this would be very unwise.

demoted for sure; not ready for OC or position coach.

That’s one of the worst analogies ever presented on this site.

There is no binding contract between the patient and the doctor.
No money is at risk
And if all of the other doctors are tied up with patients in the operating room, what are your choices ?

An interim Head Coach would have been a more prudent option

You can't demote either. If any action were to happen it likely will be an in house switch where someone else..likely Parker takes over play calling...but you need him to stay and be involved to keep the class together. After early signing is likely the earliest a move of either type happens

People remember tommy is responsible for qb play and entire offense execution, not just calling the plays

tommy is a terrible coach without Kelly

He’s not Jack Swarbrick or Marcus Freeman. He’s a fan, and he’s allowed to have an opinion to fire the OC. Right or wrong…..

Advocating for the firing of a coach without naming a viable replacement for that coach is a sign of a moronic opinion.

Opinions should have a degree of facts and logic behind them, his had neither

ok, Charlie Weis Jr. as a replacement. He has been exposed to more coaching staffs then Rees. Saban, Sark, Kiffin to name a few.

Part of the problem in hiring and retaining a coach is money, especially in terms of competing with the NFL.

Why wouldn‘t you want to hire a top DC from the NFL, for a variety of reasons.

The probability is that you can’t afford him and/or that he would throw your payroll with your staff out of kilter.

The ND situation is very unusual in that the OC was hired prior to the hiring of the HC.

At this point in time, into the season, who would be available ?

NO ONE !

You either reshuffle your staff or keep the status quo.

You can’t leave the position empty as some would seem to suggest.

Is he available ?

And what would it cost to buy out Rees‘s contract ?

It ain't Rees' fault that his QB was zero for five on deep passes today, including a wide open lenzy for a TD. It wasn't Rees' fault that the line can't block, or his QB threw two ridiculous INTs. PLAYERS NEED TO MAKE PLAYS!!! ARE PLAYERS ARE NOT.

And it ain't Rees' fault that our defense gives up 90 yard plus TD drives in the fourth QTR two games in a row; or gives up a drive and FG at the end of the first half .. PLAYERS NEED TO MAKE PLAYS!!! AND THEY ARE NOT

Same ole bullshit every year from a bunch of know nothing never weres; fire this coach or that coach, from a bunch of clueless whiners
Oh but it is. This is a performance business. If the offense sucks it’s in him.

Unfortunately he's at Ole Miss as the OC.
As for Rees' buyout, it would be cheaper to buy him out then to keep him.

No Charlie Weis Jr. Please.. I can't relive the the nightmare years of Charlie senior. No more decided schematic advantage

We’re all just fans, Pat. No one has to do anything. It’s a free internet message board…..

Omg this is so dumb; what is the coach responsible for then?
The game plan ... and BTW those weren't my words, they are the words of a former ND captain. And I never think of a guy whose actually done it as dumb. Proving once again just what a moron, or you being the self aware ahole, you really are. The moniker still fits; a know nothing, never was, whinny little bitch

The thing is with Rees is that dumb people put him in a role/position he was not yet ready for. I think that may be why BK tried to take Rees with him to LSU! In the last ounce of loyalty to a ‘friend’ BK tried to shield or disguise TR’s lack of preparation or readiness’s for the OC position. So BK takes Rees with him, and no one was any wiser!

There are only two things that could save TR. One is turning it around in a major way. Two is getting Carr to reclassify and loading up on talent in the '24 class. Otherwise, he should be gone. I have little faith he will accomplish any of those goals.

Freeman: "We had a good game plan..."

Whatever the offensive & defensive game plan was, Freeman approved it...the buck stops with him.

seemed like 5 or decades
True. Ty was fired for going 5-6 in year 3. It will take Freeman a miracle to go 5-6 and Freeman has 10x's the talent that Ty had. We did not put up with even mediocre coaching then and Freeman should be on the hot seat if he loses to anyone besides USC and Clemson for the remainder of the season. Davies only lasted because he had 2, 9 win seasons. Even with that he was kept too long. Freeman should be put on notice that it's a 1 year shot with this level of talent after losing to Marshall. You aren't getting 3 years to "build a program" when you already had a freaking gold mine.

I have another gripe. When we were in the dead zone, needing TWO scores with no way to stop the clock's remaining 90 seconds, TR called everything except a forward pass into the end zone. We bled all off the time off our final lottery ticket to win the game, even if someone had dived through window of opportunity on the onside kick.

How about that onside kick.. That was worst onside kick ever.. Our players were in position but the damn ball took forever to roll and never bounced
