Today in CFB the rivalry match-up were everywhere. Teams pick it up a little bit...etc.

What it also did was shed light on how very far away from the elite we really are.

This isn't based on raw talent but what we severely lack is technique, attitude, toughness, etc. A refuse to lose attitude. A motivation fueled by a chip on the shoulder.

Brian Kelly is absolutely atrocious with all the above.

I thought it was fitting Tillery and his actions. Players are extensions of coaches and Tillerys actions definitely reflected his coach. Garbage and zero class.

P.s.
Most of the above can be cured with a good hire. Example...Michigan under Hoke, then immediately under Harbaugh. The mindset changed. Instantly. Keep that in mind.

I think ND fans need to take a step back away from the TV and message boards. You're now blaming the actions of one player on the head coach...smh! This season stunk with a capital S, but if anything coach Kelly's deserves the chance to fix it does he not? Should we fire a coach now after one bad season? It sets a terrible precedence!

yes its more than a bad season. it is not winning big games and not be competitive also losing not just on occasion to teams we should beat. northwestern, duke and navy. this is cumulative

I agree there is a bad trend with losing those games. Let me ask although we thought this team was very talented were they a complete team from top to bottom? O,D and ST? Do you think losing the Jr leadership to the NFL last year was an oversight? I think the lack of experience and leadership at the WR and LB position hurt this team far more than we thought.

there is a leadership crisis with the team and this leadership problem has occured since Teo left. This falls on kelly also. Coaches create an atmosphere where leaders will rise and since kelly has been on board we are waiting for leadership instead we have talented players lost at sea

I'm not sure what you have been watching for the last 7 yrs.? Perhaps you base what you see on wins n losses? I'm not sure. I do know you are terribly misinformed if you believe its 1 bad season, or a chance for him to fix it!

Again as many here have mentioned how much of the issues are directly on Brian Kelly vs culture of the school and what they want ND football to be ?

Let's take for example the game day experience . I watch these other teams and feel jealous to see the whole stadium with one dominate color, loud as sh*t and the excitement we are going to wreak havoc on your team. Tbh I enjoy watching ND away games more than I do home.

I think ND Football in general needs to be evaluated and not just Brian Kelly!

Elevation cone first with removal of coach Kelly

The legendary Bob Wills and the Notre Dame connection: "Take me back to Tulsa.....I'm too young to marry"....The Brian Kelly Notre Dame story starts right there.

Tilley is not garbage. Your insinuation indicates you have zero class.

I would argue a coach can lose 7-8-9 games nocal even a good one. Hence, Dantonio. Huge losses in the Draft does more with less yes he has had a shit yr. He's also won 10 or more games 5-7 years. If Kelly had that track record we would all be more forgiving for this mess. The problems go deeper. In another thread i did look at the midwest schools that had little to no ill affects from coach turnover. If I'm lead to believe that no coach will come, no coach is available, no coach will fit? To NOTRE DAME for gods sake. I guess its time to truly evaluate where my heart lies on Saturdays. I've invested 28 yrs to ND myself. All i've wanted since Holtz was a good coach and quality football. I've not recieved that on a consistent enough basis. So here we are on the precipous....

I don't think he can fix what is broken.
this team is completely lost, whether it is on offense/defense, special teams or 2nd half coaching adjustments.....

Honestly he can't fix this in a year...
we will always end up at the same point again.

in order for the program to reach the next level.. BK must go.
starting over is scary but must be done...
hate to say it but look at Michigan and Washington....

MSU's situation is entirely football...they will evaluate Dantonio and the program on that basis. Notre Dame's situation is a bit more complicatied.

For Chris sakes that's nothing I finally looked it up on YouTube. You guys are such fems he didn't kick him hard enough to hurt him or step on him like Suh has done more than once. He's frustrated with the season and losing get of the kids back. For once he showed a bit of fire. You all complain he's so soft and now he's the devil. Get over it ladies

Have to disagree. I was at the game and I thought ND (a younger more inexperienced team with no Juncos) stayed with a damn good USC team. Take away our terrible special teams play (missed chip shot and two returns for TDs, by the way why isn't Yoon kicking off anymore?!) and we are in a one-score game with a team people were calling 'the hottest in cfb.' Does this mean Kelly should stay? I don't know -- I'm leaning more no these days but I just don't see any sure things out there. Fleck is interesting but he had one good season. Myles, no way. Schiano.... maybe. The other guys like Peterson aren't going anywhere. Look, we lost the best receiver in cfb last year, another guy in Chris Brown who was damn good and an experience leader in Robinson -- these guys had three/four years of real experience getting open for a their young QB. We lost three NFL linemen (two starters and I believe Elmer would have been drafted.) And we lost maybe the best defensive player we've had -- a leader and a winner. Add our senior safety, our best cb to that list and shit, we ain't Alabama! That said, the BVG hire was an absolute disaster! Maybe Kelly should have been fired for letting that go on for as long as it did. Who knows? But it is clear this team lacked senior leadership and the chest to win the close ones. Is that Kelly --yeah... If he brought in Strong to run the defense and let Stanford run the offense and GOT RID OF BOOKER, for chrissakes, I really think we have a chance to be good next year. But like a lot of guys on this site I'm disgusted and tired of losing... so maybe it is time to take a chance and roll the dice on a tough, passionate young guy like Fleck? He would be getting a team with a lot of good young talent (our secondary and our receivers especially.)

Fleck has more than 1 good season. WMU is historically a basket case. Fleck is the only WMU coach to ever win a bowl - last year. He is the only WMU coach to ever go to back to back bowls - last year and the year before. Now he is the only WMU HC to lead the team to 3 consecutive bowls.

What he has done there is well beyond amazing.

Fleck does not have the experience necessary to succeed at ND. He has not had to deal with the delusional expectations, history, tradition, media requirements, academic standards, intense microscope etc...He needs one more stop in lower level power 5 program and show results there first. I hate Brian Kelly but Fleck is not better than him.

Couldn't be more wrong. . Watch how W.Mich plays. They are a well coached team who makes very few mistakes.

Well, we all know the numerous mistake prone ND team and how they play.

Bk is not even comparable to PJ Fleck. Can't hold PJ'S clipboard.

what people do not know is UC teams while successful were not terribly disciplined and played some wild games against some v bad teams. And go back and rewatch the Pitt game that Mardy Gillyard and Binns pulled out with a big rally; aided by some terrible clock management by Wanny.

I know - I watched that game as well. He also berates a Cincy player pretty bad as well in that game - Cincy played w/ absolutely NO D - two bad signs to come - poor player / coach interactions and piss poor defense under BK.

I will say - when the hire happened - I was pleased - I felt at the time he was our best viable option.
