To Jesse Bongiovi

Exactly. You can vehemently disagree with someone while still truly appreciating the freedoms that you share equa
The way I see it is this. Jesse participated for 4 years as a member of the Notre Dame football team. During those 4 years he bled and sweat with his teammates, through thick and thin. He stayed out of trouble from what we know, upheld his end of the bargain as a student / athlete, his dad paid his absurd tuition (not that it would be an issue for him) and he graduated on time with his teammates.

He did nothing to disrespect Notre Dame. He didn't spray paint Touchdown Jesus or speak up against the Christian Faith. He simply decided to vacate the premise when an INVITED SPEAKER, a non member of the Notre Dame community spoke at Commencement... Mountain out of a molehill.

Two years ago we were invited out to Colorado to do some joint training with your Air Force PJ'S. American and Canadian medics and Corpsmen teach a lot of different medical principles to each other as we have differing approaches, both of which are extremely proven and affective. On day 3 of this training exercise a bit of bickering started between personnel from both sides over the best methods for maintaining circulation in a given scenario. Statistics showed that the method we teach is the best way to go, but a former marine corpsman who had seen multiple combat tours in Afghanistan and had successfully implemented the technique he was taught, with success, on the battlefield, wanted no part of hearing our argument for his method. He literally walked off during the argument and only came back when commanded to do so by his CO... Was that disrespectful? Maybe. But could you blame him given his experience. I couldn't. The rest of those PJ'S stayed and listened intently, despite their clear objection to the technique. Just like 99% of the graduating students stayed to listen to Pence, many of whom may not agree with what the current administration has to say...

So my question to you is this. Would you slander a current PJ and former marine, who has represented your country with great honor, simply because he disagreed with somebody else and chose to walk away?.. I would certainly hope not.

And if you wouldn't, then why would you slander a kid who has been an excellent representative of Notre dame during his time in South Bend, just because he disagreed with what a politician had to say?

Speaking of betrayal... You'd take the side of a filthy (I use that word in jest) University of Indiana grad in Pence, over one of your own, a proud Notre Dame grad in Bongiovi??... Ewwwww. I think Ohio State or Michigan are looking to expand their fan base, maybe you should look into it :)
"The public doesn't need to know anything about these students", as these students make a public statement?

Lol.

Ftr, I support their right to walk out as much as I support people's rights to bash or glorify them for doing so. But the fact that they're indeed making a public statement opens all of them up for explaining themselves. If they don't want to or can't, that's fine, but it'd be nice to know that they actually know what they're protesting.

Could it be that some of these students are still reeling from nurse ratched losing or do they really feel unsafe around pence and his words?

Half of them are probably doing it cuz they got their crayons stolen from them in their safe spaces.
Walking out on VP Pence during commencement showed a lack of maturity and respect. How could these ND students feel marginalized when they attend one of the greatest universities in the United States of America. They deserved to be booed. No wonder why things can't get done when people refuse to listen to the unpopular opinions of others as they perceive them to be. Next time a liberal talks I'll walk out in protest. Nah... I'd rather listen to their bullshit to confirm what I've always thought about liberals.[/QUO

Fake news. Jesse didn't walk out. Said he supported the students that did. Said he didn't have the guts to do it as he saw it unfold. He disagreed with the booing.

So now the excuse is they are college kids... 20 year old kids in the US military place their lives on the line to protect the very freedom that allows them to walk out.
1. I don't accept the premise that they need an excuse for their behavior that is just projecting your political beliefs on them which I am not sure what makes your beliefs more valid then theirs.

2. Yeah man 20 year olds who are in the military and who aren't in the military do dumb things that they end up regretting. These kids/students/young adults may never regret their decision, maybe they will but that's for them to think about at a later date

3. Still not sure why the decisions of a 20 year old you don't know is going to get you sooooo worked up.

Agreed.

Young folks do things that don't necessarily define the person they become later in life. Even Ronald Reagan originally was a Democrat, but later became a Republican.

No. They owe me nothing. If you are going to talk the talk you need to show that you can walk the walk. They were the ones basking in national headlines for their cause, so, I want to know what they are actually doing for their cause. Simple question. Nothing to be afraid of. Nothing to get defensive over. You want to bring wanted attention to yourself, then the public should know who these students are and what they are doing for the cause. I understand you are sympathetic to whatever they were protesting, but even you must want to know if this walk out protest is nothing but fluff.
" Basking " ? You re getting more ridiculous with each and every post.almost perse like.

to walk out, they had to 1st show up. I doubt they paid any attention to anything not 'them'
Yes! Yes! Yes!... If you are a protester you are definitely so self involved you wouldn't pay attention to anything else but yourself. I doubt Perse is not a sex offender. It a double negative buddy so work it through in your head and see what comes out.

You can throw hand grenades at me all you want. It is just a misdirection from the question at hand. Why don't Republicans care about babies after they are born. Tax breaks for the rich isn't an answer. Sourcing a radical nun is not an answer. That's a pretty big matzo ball you laid out there without anything to back it.

Trump is the most obvious conman ever and Pence is a catholic hating scum

Because you don't t care for the things I referred to doesn't t make them less credible. I doubt I could give you any answer you wouldn't t just summarily dismiss.

Come on man. Dion't blow smoke at me. You won't give me an answer because you don't have an answer. Just talking points and that is not an answer. That might work for your HS students but not with any common sense halfway intelligent adult. A radical nun is not credible at all because it is just her slanted opinion not based on any numbers or facts. This taxes for rich nonsense has nothing to do with "Republicans not caring about babies after they are born". It's nothing more than a cliche' talking point at best. Your students can't call you out for idiot statements that you make but I can and I will. Prove that "Republicans don't care about babies after they are born" and don't side step the argument by slight of hand comments about me.

They showed up in the first place, because they wanted to participate in their commencement and listen to all the speeches up until ...

I'm sure they knew who all of those other speakers were. They better of done thorough background checks on those other speakers too. Heaven forbid you sit and listen to someone with a different viewpoint than yourself.

It's not really on us to determine how they should have conveyed their message. Walking out is a different message than staying home.
And I guess you would say burning cars in DC and destruction of property on the Cal campus is a different message as well from liberal protestors?

Don't sell the entertainers short. Jim Brown was a outstanding actor:)

I wonder how it felt to be the last wave of defense , one on one, with the great Jim Brown barreling your way? Probably the same feeling as having the Union Pacific rush by you while you stand next to the tracks.

I would treat him like I would a Bull. I would grab him by the Horns (facemask) and poke him in the eyes.

I guess. Defending her seems unnecessary though because I am not sure why anyone would even get mad about it in the first place.

How convenient of you to call out THAT ONE STUDENT that did that? Hmm I wonder why him? You know nothing about him. Mike Pence is a divisive person that is a fact. Maybe not to you or I. He exercised his first amendment who are you to call him out by name. For example- Do you have any gay relatives? Some people have a decent argument that Pence sanctioned mental torture through tax dollars to gay people. maybe he has gay family members..who knows. There are many other issue Pence is a little extreme on. You know nothing about this young man but his father's music videos. The only one displaying ignorance is YOU spouting nonsense on a message board. He has a Notre Dame degree and he is being active in participating in the current climate. You don't get to dictate how he does it.

I will bet a small basket of smelt heads that these students have no idea what Trump's policies are. They know "wall" and "refugees" and conveniently leave out the key word "illegal" when talking immigrants. What has Jesse or any of these students done to help improve the lives of those they march for, other than marching, protesting, walking out, and making cool clever protest signs. Has any single one of them sacrificed any thing for these people? Has any of them gave up their bed for these people? Has any of these students invite one single illegal or refugee into their home or gave them comfort in any way? What have these students done for the unwed, scared, homeless and pregnant American women? What have these students done to save one single unborn child headed to the death room? What have these privileged students done for the women working the street, some homeless, who live in despair, without hope, and who have lost faith years ago? Walking out is nothing more than a boring cliche' that takes no courage at all.

You obviously didn't go to ND. If you had that experience- you would know how incredibly dumb your post is. I would bet anything these kids not only know more but would laugh outloud at what "websites" tell you what the policies are.

I don't have to go to ND to know the psyche of these students. The picture is painted beautifully for all to see. What websites? What in the name of middle school responses are you talking about? Trump/Pence has made it clear over the past year what their positions are. They disagree with the policies of Trump/Pence which means they are pro-abortion. That's a pretty big negative coming from a group of young people. If you support them then just say it and then we will all know where you stand on the issue.

Because he wrote about it. I never listened to his dad's music nor watched his videos. Wrong again. It deals with with these so called liberal dolts who are sore losers the bitch didn't win. Sore brats who show no respect. It's about respect. I listened to lots of professors in law school I didn't care for but I never walked out. And you know nothing about him either. He is fortunate to have a degree from Norte Dame.

Haha. Wow. you're right. I mean it's impossible to be in the middle. To agree on some things and disagree on another...right? You have to be all in like some lap dog or a raging liberal bent to "destroy america" no in between? I agree with them on some issues and they are absolute dunces on others. You think turning their backs on him is solely about abortion (!!!!?) then you don't know any 22year olds. If you are a good Catholic you have to really swallow a lot of hypocrisies to support these two for the good of the bigger issues. But if you can't see the faults while your two saviors supposedly walk on water you are a sheep not worth engaging with...

There are a lot of issues people can disagree with Trump/Pence without being "pro-abortion" which is weird way to frame the position but helpful to your cause so I get.

I'm glad you see it my way. The students feel the need to speak for the truly vulnerable. Those are their words, not mine. Who is more vulnerable than the unborn child? Now, that would be a cause worth its weight in gold , but somehow, I feel that is way down on their list of important socially popular causes.

Talking points. Where are your numbers? Don't side step the argument by slight of hand comments about me. If you are going to talk the talk you need to show that you can walk the walk. Simple question. Nothing to be afraid of. Nothing to get defensive over. Just give me some numbers.

What a lame, immature, and sorry response. It doesn't even make any sense in response to my comment. You must have been stewing for the past week or so big time. Address my comment like a big boy and we can have a discussion. Talk like a weak sister and you will need to find someone else to haggle with.
