Thomas Davis- Taking an OV to Georgia

His loss. ND can get a linebacker no problem
Yeah this is one of those positions under this MF regime where we can lose two or three guys young guys prospects whatever makes no difference and still be a top lb corps in the country

Hit to the F+ .
actually for 2026 week 1 yea, you're not wrong.

theoretically though, this may open up another spot for a better prospect elsewhere on the roster? who knows. and if ND does indeed land some better prospects than Thomas Davis as a result of his departure it would be an increase in F+ in 2026 week 1 (very tiny impact in terms of how much impact a single prospect would make on the rankings -- but wanted to take the opportunity to explain how recruiting ties back into NDs early placement in the advanced ranking systems).

Also, i forgot to comment on this part of the possible Thomas Davis' departure: You probably dont want to be losing your prospects to direct competitors for a national title trophy. Not just for the obvious aspect that they got a player that was on your roster, but Georgia is a respected program, and Thomas Davis is getting cosigned by one of the best defensive minds in the business. Which is a punch to the gut if he does indeed depart and go to Georgia.

ND also now has to worry about Georgia poaching their prospects in the stage of Georgia going forward. Its probably a sign of respect that Georgia is chasing after players that ND would take in their state at LB.

There's billions and billions of dollars at stake and its a ruthless dog-eat-dog world out there.

Edit: (2nd paragraph) for concision & clarification to my point.

ND also now has to worry about Georgia poaching their defensive prospects because Georgia's football program is so much further ahead in terms of almost everything so ND would not be able to compete under status quo if Georgia and their superior NIL/player purse/everything recruiting operation comes to bully ND out of its key defensive prospects.

Well he’s outside the Top 150, by your logic NDs gain, UGA’s loss. Clown show

ChaseHasNoBalls proves again he's the biggest troll on this forum. If this was flipped where Davis was committed to Georgia and was going to flip to ND, he'd be pontificating how this wasn't a loss for Georgia as they are making room for a better prospect and ND again is not going after elite Top 50 recruits.
ChaseHasNoBalls is a complete joke and fool.

Legacy recruit so you never know how that will shake out

I've always hated early commitments. I wish there was some sort of truly enforceable rule that prohibited them until the fall of a kids senior season. I don't believe offers should be allowed until the spring of a players junior year either. Way too much pressure on these young people.

Until they sign the LOI, they are all free agents -- the only thing a "verbal" commitment says is -- here is the school you need to beat.

The vast majority of ND verbals never waver.

Over 80% of our commitments sign their NLOI. It's a small number that are decommits

It’s worth mentioning that he spoke to ND about the reasons for the visit in advance and Freeman was fine with it. I suspect his Dad just wanted him to take a look. Probably a good thing his family lives in North Carolina and not Georgia.

His HS in North Carolina is four hours by car from the Georgia campus.

Remember the "If you're looking, we're looking" quote? 😂

Did Coach Freeman say that??? Coach Freeman, IMO, has no choice but to allow current ND verbal commitments to take officials to other schools, if that is what they choose. Just this past week, Notre Dame hosted Florida St. verbal commitment WR Efrem White..

So yes, Notre Dame is looking.

If I remember correctly, it was Brian Kelly that said that.

No, that was a famous tag line during the Weis era.

I think ND kept operating that way under BK and even MF but stopped making it public.

It's a stupid way to operate though when you have no leverage with recruits and they have all the leverage. Because you are just kicking the best talent to the curb who want to experience the full recruiting experience (taking visits, shopping the best NIL deals, getting red carpet treatment) before making a final decision.

ND has very little patience when it comes to playing the recruiting game for the best talent which is just lame stubbornness and outdated philosophy where they are just biting off their own nose to spite their face.

That quote was originally from the Charlie Weis era.

" ND has little patience ... "

I think i disagree with this chase. I think it use to be like that. But freeman is definitely displaying more patience and is consistently going after high level recruits who fit the ND criteria.
