The response to Kelly seeking other jobs

Wut? Not posting again so read the post above for the step by step. Interjected the statement for no relevance to the discussion but didn't make the discussion irrelevant.

I did, and it's nonsensical. Maybe you need to lay off the bottle for a little while.

Dense, me? Kidding right. Go back and read your original statement. You questioned Kelly's loyalty to ND. You with me?
You used that statement as a qualifier for being loyal to ND. Still there?
I'm saying that's complete BS having zero relevance on looking around to potentially better his career and future as a coach.
I used UM because he also says this same thing thus a comparison. You with me still?
So UM says it but takes a pass on the ND job right. Kelly says it and takes the job.
Thus my friend you are the one who is dense.

Got it so you are not really saying Kelly's dream job statement shows his loyalty to ND.
It really was simple but I see now how confusing it likely was for you to follow.

First you're wrong. You assume Kelly has the same love and passion as you do as a fan. I'm sure he has aspirations or had to coach in the pros and certainly would never fault him for that.

BRIAN KELLY: Thank you, Jack. Growing up as an Irish Catholic in Boston, Massachusetts, I'd come home from church after driving my parents crazy and listen to the reruns or the replays of Notre Dame football, and indelibly etched in my mind,….

And so when you have those types of memories of Ara Parseghian, Joe Montana, Father Hesburgh, it makes today seem like a dream.....

… and Gracie came up to me, grabbed me, hugged me and said, "Dad, I'm so happy for you. I know this has been your dream. And I'm sad for me just for a little bit. Is that okay?" And I kissed her, and I said, "You know what, that's what is so magical about this is that my kids know that this was a dream for me."
There is a football coach and then there's the football coach at Notre Dame, because nobody, nobody does it like Notre Dame. The excellence in academics and in the athletic arena is second to none,

I'd say that's checkmate.

Good find. I'm glad he did have this job slated as a dream. Makes me feel better about his commitment. However that doesn't mean he also didn't have aspirations to coach in the pros.

Just because it would mean the world to you doesn't mean it does to him. Doubt he was a huge ND fan growing up like you and me. To him it may just be a great job. Can't blame him for that.

Dinner party gotta roll. Feel free to carry on. I'll catch ya in a few.

Uh no. How does that make him looking to the pros as not being loyal. I was wrong about his ND affiliation growing up but what does that have to with coaching in the pros.

Uh, yeah.

Seriously?? You still don't get it? You've got to be kidding. Sorry, I don't know what else to tell you.

Norte Dame is a destination job. This is not a job that once you get it you keep looking for other jobs. The only reason why Kelly is looking around is because his seat is hot. If he was successful at ND he would not be looking to leave. The guy knows the writing is on the wall. Kelly might be back another year. However, he knows next season will be the same outcome and he will soon run out of time.
Kelly was looking around when he seat was not on the hot seat.....remember?

Ara never had any interest in professional football. Bear Bryant, Johnny Vought, many other pretty successful college coaches have NEVER had an interest in coaching the pros.

During the Saturday presser, before Monday’s BCS NC game, kelly categorically denounced any interest in the NFL knowing darn well he had an Eagles interview on Tuesday.

“Are you a college coach or has the NFL ever been a desire for you?

COACH BRIAN KELLY: No, and I think when I took the job at Notre Dame, I think I said it was a dream job.”

After his interview was discovered….

"Like every kid who has ever put on a pair of football cleats, I have had thoughts about being a part of the NFL," Kelly said

He’s a born liar.

I am not wrong, ND is a destination job. As soon as a coach starts looking for greener pastures, you immediately show him the door. If a guy starts looking around that means his heart is not in it.

So every coach that wants the ND job better expect to be here for life, unless he gets canned. Got it.

This is the same arrogant crap I argue every day with my buddies that ND is not. thanks for proving me wrong.

Is just plain ignorant. All coaches and for that matter anyone looking to grow in life better have a way to constantly measure their worth. You get one shot at life so if you want to maximize opportunity don't get complacent.
Kelly's contract likely has clauses that could and would create a "for cause" out where he would get nothing. He will not allow this to happen. That being said he pays an agent that has one goal period: to maximize Brian Kelly's net worth. It would be dereliction of duty for his agent to not always be looking for ways to achieve this objective.
You call Kelly all the names you wish and believe he is complete scum but the university knows all these moves and may not be okay but they are not in breach of the contract. What jack is saying is that he is fully aware, may not like, but knows it would always be part of the relationship.
He chooses to look at the job BK is doing with the team on and off the field and wil not let a seasons record dictate a rash decision.
My guess is though that it is getting bumpy.

This is Total baloney. What you say may be true at a surface level, who hasn't looked at the job ads? But sheesh, this guy spent 3 years telling kids about the importance of sticking things out, dealing with adversity, playing to win, etc. etc. etc........then he bolted Cincinatti and left them hanging in the most important game of the program's history.

He was absolutely preparing to do the same thing to Notre Dame before the Alabama game. Now it is apparent he's been talking to USC and whoever else might hire him.

No wonder his teams stink. He's more focused on leaving than coaching. I say we give him more time to focus on his job search. A LOT more time.

Did he or his agent talk with USC. I haven't seen nor heard him say he sought them out and had a discussion. This may be true can you supply the evidence.
