Is just plain ignorant. All coaches and for that matter anyone looking to grow in life better have a way to constantly measure their worth. You get one shot at life so if you want to maximize opportunity don't get complacent.
Kelly's contract likely has clauses that could and would create a "for cause" out where he would get nothing. He will not allow this to happen. That being said he pays an agent that has one goal period: to maximize Brian Kelly's net worth. It would be dereliction of duty for his agent to not always be looking for ways to achieve this objective.
You call Kelly all the names you wish and believe he is complete scum but the university knows all these moves and may not be okay but they are not in breach of the contract. What jack is saying is that he is fully aware, may not like, but knows it would always be part of the relationship.
He chooses to look at the job BK is doing with the team on and off the field and wil not let a seasons record dictate a rash decision.
My guess is though that it is getting bumpy.

I absolutely concur with this.

Then why don't these rumors surface with Meyer and Saban? Maybe they have more class...

I totally disagree with this. Kelly has one of the top coaching jobs in the country. Many would say it's the premier coaching job in the country. The idea that Kelly needs to "measure his worth" is ridiculous.
In fact, it's the putting his name out there for other jobs which annoys me the most. If the guy thinks that somewhere other than ND is the place he wants to be, I say let him go there.

AMEN!!!

Coaches that teams throw the kitchen sink at are a rare exception. Your point is valid but not what I was talking about.

Just because it would mean the world to you doesn't mean it does to him. Doubt he was a huge ND fan growing up like you and me. To him it may just be a great job. Can't blame him for that.

I don't think anyone other than a few fans would say it's THE premiere job in the country. If it was we would have our pick of the litter when it came to coaches. The pressure, the unrealistic fans, plus unwarranted media attention, and the fact that in this era because of the way college football has changed. It is more of an academic school with a great football history second. That being said it still could change but we would have to win a whole lot more.

This is a post that makes zero sense. Let's just look at the last paragraph.

Kelly is doing average things at ND. It would not be a rash decision to fire Kelly. He is living off of one season. That season was 5 years ago.
He is averaging 8 wins a season.
He is not doing much better than Charlie.
There have been more off the field issues under Kelly than the three coaches before him put together.
Kelly has never in his life won a major bowl.
Kelly has yet to win a big game while at ND.

Why would any ND fan want Kelly to stay on another year?

Norte Dame is a destination job. This is not a job that once you get it you keep looking for other jobs. The only reason why Kelly is looking around is because his seat is hot. If he was successful at ND he would not be looking to leave. The guy knows the writing is on the wall. Kelly might be back another year. However, he knows next season will be the same outcome and he will soon run out of time.

Zorich I don't agree with you on that. If a coaches life goal is to coach in the pros then they do leave if he wins for that matter any coach in college football flirts with that idea. Put aside the fact that we are die hard fans for the football program. Every coach pretty much leaves and gives it a shot now. You get fired too quickly in this era of major sports to stay long term.

This is true. Look at Saban and C Kelly. People thinking career coaches see college as a final destination are dilusional. So players aspire to pros but coaches aspire to college. Got it.

Yeah, I can blame him for that. It makes me question where his loyalties are. He said ND was his "dream job." If he is worried about "measuring his worth," perhaps he should try coaching a championship team. Then he would know he had measured up.

First you're wrong. You assume Kelly has the same love and passion as you do as a fan. I'm sure he has aspirations or had to coach in the pros and certainly would never fault him for that.

Yea Urbans dream job is ND too. At least Kelly stepped up took the job.

Amen Zorich! Swarbick and Jenkins are like abused women who keep defending their douch bag spouses. The abuser doesn't change. Neither will Kelly.

My suspicion is both sides would like to part. And Kelly's side is looking, nothing seems to be emerging and he will continue with the program until ND forces the contract exit. That's to his best interest both financially and professionally. That's sad for all concerned. Swarbrick is a complete disappointment. From a distance I'm not sure he fully understands his role with the football team and from a CEO's position how to evaluate a performing coach. W's and L's are only a portion of the evaluation. Yes, a large one, but not the only one. This team has been poorly prepared and often times performed disappointingly (on and off the field). There is little excitement surrounding the program and all involved know this will eventually blow up, but are afraid to pull the trigger. It will linger on until the program and the brand are badly damaged, if not already. Just shameful display of executive management on Swarbrick's part. Jenkins and the Board of Directors need to be held accountable next year when the crap hits the fan. It's really on them. We need an adult with the courage to recognize and admit the situation. Apparently not this year, not with Swarbrick. Little did we know that, "hear no evil, see no evil and speak no evil" was the bottom line of the ND AD!

You proved zero. We were talking about Brian Kelly and you changed the subject to Urban Meyer.

You question Kelly's "dream job" statement but take a pass on "Urbans". Didn't change the subject but used it to show your hypocrisy.

The discussion is about Brian Kelly, not Urban Meyer. Try to follow along here. BTW, you might want to look up the word "hypocrisy" in the dictionary. You obviously don't know what it means.

Youre right it is about Kelly. Until your characterization of him and his devotion to ND is questioned using the statement about it being his "dream job". You made this statement not me. You made the statement a reason why he is incapable of continuing to coach at ND.
Well didn't your idol Urban say the exact same thing? So why not question his devotion to ND as he turned us down for Florida.
This my friend is hypocrisy. You may want to learn how to take a definition of a word and apply it to other contexts outside the words written in the dictionary.

Are you dense? For the third time, we are not talking about Urban Meyer. Nothing Urban Meyer said or didn't say is relevant to this discussion. Despite your repeated attempts to inject Urban Meyer into this discussion, he is not germane to what we are talking about.

Where did he say Urban Meyer was his idol?

Dense, me? Kidding right. Go back and read your original statement. You questioned Kelly's loyalty to ND. You with me?
You used that statement as a qualifier for being loyal to ND. Still there?
I'm saying that's complete BS having zero relevance on looking around to potentially better his career and future as a coach.
I used UM because he also says this same thing thus a comparison. You with me still?
So UM says it but takes a pass on the ND job right. Kelly says it and takes the job.
Thus my friend you are the one who is dense.

Are you related to Decker? Go chase your shadow for a while.

Sorry. I can't deal with your idiocy any more. I never said Urban Meyer was my idol. I have made no comments about Urban Meyer at all, other than to say he is irrelavant to our discussion. You have shown yourself to be incapable of following the discussion.

Evidently, because Urban Meyer has no relevance to the issue. Glad you're admitting it.

Wut? Not posting again so read the post above for the step by step. Interjected the statement for no relevance to the discussion but didn't make the discussion irrelevant.

Got it so you are not really saying Kelly's dream job statement shows his loyalty to ND.
It really was simple but I see now how confusing it likely was for you to follow.
