The QB situation

Made the mistake of thinking you wanted an honest discussion of Wimbush' ability to lead this Irish team with solid QB play and leadership. It's a team game and lots of moving parts for the passing game to click, and yes, they all need to improve; and yes, I believe Wimbush has the skills to be successful and I pointed out where he needs to improve along with others. If you think as you state that these improvements by the other players are so extraordinary as to make it where anybody could be a successful QB, then you and I have radically different views of what is involved playing QB at the college level, and probably high school as well. Not interested in discussing your view that this is yet another indictment against Kelly for not adequately developing the next man in, etc...
Apparently we do have different views. You want this fantasy perfect football scenario to play out with a perfect o line and reciever running proper routes and catching, etc. While that is in fact a goal.. Or should be the goal...of any team it's just not reality.

I'm a realist. There is another team on the field and they are trying to. Things happen within the game.

You say if all goes perfect then we'll see Wimbush succeed. Well in that fantasy world I would certainly hope so. And for some reason you want to twist my friendly exaggeration of anyone playing QB in that setting and treat it as gospel like any person in the world could in fact play QB.

My fault for assuming you would have picked up on that exaggeration.

Sure not just anyone can play QB no matter how perfect or easy you want to make it for them.

As far as why Wimbush is playing like he is you know exactly as much as I do on why he's playing that way. Which is we don't know why. You think he's computing things too fast. I think he's nervous to all get out.

Which of us is right? Who cares...the fact remains he's not playing well and needs to improve.

As far as the dig on Kelly it's a legitimate complaint. You imply Wimbush is having trouble because ultimately he's inexperienced.

It's important big picture with all players bevayse they are all one play away from going in the game. He was a backup for two years.
If he was a true freshman I can buy into that experience issue. He's been in the system for years. He shouldn't be too confused by now imo. Would he be as polished as a veteran? No.

Should he be playing like its his first two games in a Brian Kelly offense...?? No.

I just want the QB at Notre Dame to start stepping into his throws with commitment and so do you.

I did not get a chance to see any of the spring game so to those that did....

Was Wimbush really that far above and beyond Book or anyone else for that matter?
I'm not asking this with any angle but I really would like to know.

Saturday night against Georgia I would have played Book on a few series when it was evident Wimbush was not moving the offense. It doesn't matter why. Fact remained the offense was stuck in mud.

The one lone play Book was in the coaches felt confident enough on a third and long to call a five wide pass play. Book didn't throw it but that play was not a dedicated QB run. He was definitely looking to throw down field. So the staff had confidence in him to call a third and long pass... I just want to understand why they didn't want to change it up a bit. A change of pace. Something.

Instead of asking if Wimbush was that amazing in the spring game and camp perhaps the question I ask is was Book that bad?

I get it was Wimbush first big game but so was the case for the Georgia QB.

BK needs to do anything and everything possible to win at least one big game!
That is why Wimbush is the clear cut starter. He is far from a finished product but can turn a broken play into 6 anytime. He has to work on his footwork but should improve as he gains experience.
